I owned both Alpine and Kenwood in the last two years and Kenwood is better in my opinion. I wanted a HU unit with Nav, BT, Sirius, Ipod. I went with an Alpine IVA-W505, Blackbird nav and the other boxes to make the other stuff work. After a new BT module, three Blackbirds, and another HU, I finally talked the shop I bought it from into giving me my money back. Went to a Kenwood DNX-7140 and so far so good. Only thing that the Alpine has on this model of Kenwood is a higher resolution screen, which I could have matched by going to the 9140 but everything else is much better to use. The Alpine interface looks like it was programmed in the 1970's, no pop, would make a high end interior look cheap.

 

OP: You need to specify; HU, Amp, Speakers, Sub...what? Both make a dizzying amount of products, some better than others. (assuming it's KenwooD vs. Alpine )

 

Jebus. Fan boys unite. Everything in moderation here. To say one brand is better than another is ludacris. Alpine and Kenwood BOTH make good products. You have to compare without opinions getting in the way.

OP, what are you looking for? Be specific. Because each product that both companies offer will cater to various walks of life (aka needs, and wants... Even looks or how easy you find it to navigate/use will come into play). "Alpine's better than Kenwood" or "Kenwood's better than Alpine" reminds me of preschool comments like "My daddies bigger than yours"
