Kicker KX600.1
#1
Hey, has anyone ever owned this amp or does anyone know how good it is?? its rated at 600 wrms at 2 ohms. I know kicker is supposed to be pretty good quality stuff. and how about the Alpine MRD-M605, it has similar specs, but i hear that a kicker amp with similar specs would be way better than an alpine. Im thinkin about gettin one of these amps.

Those 600.1's are nearly bulletproof. Most of the birth sheets I've seen are 730-750 RMS. Pretty clean running amps. You'd probably be happy with it.
The Alpine is also a nice amplifier, but I don't think you can strap them If you want to. That may not be an issue.

Here's a suggestion, Use 2-ts w306 dvc(dual 4ohm voice coil subs) and for the price of the kicker amp, get 2- Pioneer GMD-510m class D mono amps. Each one is rated at 600 watts @ 2ohms rms( I've owned it and it is a great amp). Check it out.

The KX600.1 is a very well built, reliable amplifier. Like Bootleg said, the birth certificates are usually @ the 730-750 wrms range. You can run them down to 1 ohm for a while (not recommended though) but as soon as you bump once or twice with the MRDM605 or MRDM1005 Alpine amps they shut down (they run all day at 2 ohm).
I find the dials on the KX600.1 very smooth and precise with very little play in them. They don't vibrate loose and with the removeable end caps it allows for a clean install with the opportunity of color matching the caps to your install theme.
PS. They are also strappable with only the need of a mini plug.

I run one right now at 1 ohm daily. I have been running it like this for a few months now, and it has no problems at all. I have also burped it at .5 ohms and not had any problems. Just watch your gains at these resistances and you will be fine.
Solid, bulletproof, built like a tank. And like the others said it is strappable so that leave some leway if you ever want to add another sub or subs.
Highly recommend it. I have mine up for sale, but the truth is I don't really wanna get rid of it. Think she may be with me forever.
