If you compare the specs of the new Comr VR and the HE Rockfords, arent they erssentially the same 'level' subwoofeR??
If you want more bass, better sound, etc, why not move upwards in 'level', as opposed to laterally..
There are a sweet set of Alpine Type R's on the For Sale section that will cost you way less than either of those woofers would in the store....and sound better too

Regardless, there are subs, that are better than either the HE's or those Kicker Comps, ALWAYS up for sale here, if you are trying to fit a lower budget.
The prices I was quoted, retail, for any Kicker's were ridiculous, honestly (And admittedly so, even by my local shop-owner). Apparently Kicker, in Canada is fairly overpriced, because it comes through a distributor to the retailer (IE- middleman structure). Whereas in the US, Kicker is a direct-to-retailer company. If you are SET on Kicker's, take a day-trip to buffalo or something, and this isn't local shop-hating, this is honestly what MY LOCAL SHOP OWNER told me to do.
As as aside, why not try to grab a set of Rockford Punch HX2's or something? They are a pretty great mid-level SPL sub, and the are being cleared out from most shops, because RF's 2004-2005 new stuff is drastically different. (Think 'Saucer' subs, JBL GTi-type baskets, etc)
They are MUCH cheaper than the Kicker's, from what I have seen. (I dont know where ANY of you shop, but overall in the GTA RF has always been MUCH cheaper than the Kicker subs, where-ever I have checked)
Regardless of the 'industry insider' hype about Rockford 'selling out', they still are a VERY good product, I think, and you cant go wrong with their higher level stuff.
Also, if you MUST buy from the 'big box' stores like FS or BB, there is nothing wrong with that, and the Punch HX2's (a 500w rms woofeR) were on sale last month at FS for 249.99 a piece, a very nice price, though I dont know if they still are...

Inside info, Kicker is brought into Canada through a wholesaler, they mark it up and sell it to Best Buy guy (run faster dude, he's gaining) or whatever other dealer sells it. They mark it up to what they need to survive.
Rockford comes into Canada direct from Rockford - no whalesaler, no middleman mark up. This is why Rockford is cheaper at dealer cost and at retail for all you guys that work hard for your money. It has little to do with quality of the product.
Both brands are good respectable lines, buy what does the job for you and fits your budget.

Wrong, Korbon is the rep and service for Rockford in Canada. When I pay my bills to Rockford, they are paid to Rockford Corporation. At one point in time Korbon once imported the line for Rockford and were the middleman, this is not the case anymore.
