Yep - pick a couple good subs and put em in.. if you don't like the pre-fab after.. make it better, or sell it and build a custom one.

As for the MDF thing - MDF is not sealed - it is porous.. take a piece of MDF - pick it up with a shopvac (a good one) and now try picking up a second piece.. if your shop vac is any good it will do it.

Ya I agree. If I don't like it just move on, but I am sure this will work for now. It just sucks that the opening to the trunk is so small. The trunk is a fair size but the opening is not. So I have to sacrifice a bit I guess but oh well. Cant wait though till it is done. 2 12" re's are going to pound in that little car!

I don't understand. MDF isn't sealed because if a shop vac is good it'll pick up two how large pieces? Are you saying the suction goes through the first piece therefore it's not completely sealed?

I don't think that a vacum can suck through a piece of 3/4 mdf. There is so much glue that holds those wood fibres together that that would be impossible. If you put a sub in a sealed box its sealed. Done deal.

I hate to be a pain here guys but I can't make up my damn mind and want to know opinions. I have 500$, and for that re audio is my best bet. So 2 12's in minimum recommended air space or 2 10's in optimal air space. What is better? If I did the 10's I would just reface my 12 box to 10's.

Also out of curiosity I bought some polyfill and put it on a food scale. I wieghed out 16 oz ( 1 pound ) and if I put that in one chamber it will fill the whole thing. Nevermind just putting it on the walls. They say 1 pound per cube. That seems too much.

This is 1 pound for both chambers. Do I need more? and should it be stapled against the wall or keep it fluffy?
I don't want to use to much as to block the port.

If you don't glue it, it'll fly out the port. Search for the correct amount, I found that on YahooAnswers.

I did search and it said 1 - 1.5 pounds per 1 cubic foot. If I did that it would completly fill the box. I had a 15" back in the day and I filled the box with poly and it sounded muffled.

Start with that - see how it sounds, add some, see how that sounds, take a bunch out - see how that sounds - it's subjective really.

Thats kinda what I figured. I will add a bit more to seal the deal and should be good to go. I am stappling it down and keeping the port clear.

I still know that this is not optimal stuff but I am going to gamble and get the 12's. If worse comes to worse I will do something else but I don't think I will have to as its going to pound on 2k in that small car. ( reletively speaking ) Xmax too is not too much of a concern as some subs don't even reach the excurision that re's do and sound fine. And on the other side I believe that there is a limit on how technical a person should get and I think I have gotten too technical.
