I am considering installing 2 flipdown LCDS in my car. My question is about installing them. What do I attatch them to, obviously I dont drill through the roof. I would like these to be basically inline with teh headrests of the front seats on either side.

any guidance on this would be great

The monitors come with metal plates for above the headliner and you sandwich the headliner in between.

So what supports the metal plate? or does the headlinder support the LCD

Hey Ankleburner, sorry I can't help with your post, but how do you like the Clarion 8"? Are you running it sealed or ported, and how big of a box? Thanks!

For the most part the headliner supports everything. You may be lucky or replace a dome light or something and get near a roof support rib to screw to.

Of course if you are really concerned you could silicone a square of plywood to the roof and then screw *carefully* into that.

how long could a headliner support the weight before it started sagging and such??

or do new cars come with uber-headliners compared to my old ass truck and older ass car before it?

^ Actually they do. If the car is REALLY old, like 60s, it may be merely a fabric sail held in with bow rods. A little newer and they made them from a woodfibre based material that disintegrated over time. Fast forward to now and you have pressed glass fibre that should last forever.

That and most overhead flipdowns are really light. If it is large or a DVD combo then better aim for a roof support or silicone the wood in.

I rechecked your vehicle and in your fullsize blazer I would just make a whole new headliner and mold the screens into it. Not tough in that one.
