Lets hear it. What got you starting in car audio...then into competing?

Always interesting to hear what first sparked ones initial interest in car audio. What then lead you to compete?
My case, I had a brother and a buddy with interests in quality music...it got me hooked lol. Without them, would I have found my way this far?...Probably, but hard to say lol

I got in because I was the only one of my family that was comfortable installing something that ISN'T house wiring. It was '87 and I installed a stereo in my cousin's BRAND NEW Daytona turbo. Consisted of two Redline subs ( I believe they were ) a MONSTROUS amp that I can't remember the name of and an Alpine deck with EQ.
Worked the first time, I guess I was about 8 yrs old by the year.

Was always kinda in to it, but when first starting out just was about the boom being stupid 18 year old just wanted pounding bass, I think I went through a phase where treble didn't exist it was just bass then starting realizing that sounds like *** then started adding more highs etc etc.... and now i prefer SQ over spl

I started out with subs, which I still use when I was 16 or 17. I figured it was good to have a car stereo because your parents still ca't tell you to turn it down on the road. Then I went to buy speakers Picked up my 3 way set cause the price is right. I figured I could do a show or two with them if I added a little gear. I have only become more and more obessesed since then.

I alwasy wanted mids/highs and a cd player but I thought that subs were the dumbest thing EVER.
One time my step brother took me out in his car, with 2 Pyle Driver 10's and an MEI amp. I listened to the song So Many Tears by 2Pac and fell in love with subs.
I went out and had a stereo for my car long before I could drive and had it installed and ready to go on my first day I could drive.
Ever since then, I just put more and more money into it.
