Line Drivers

Ok all I no is so far I'm getting 3 new line driver, and 3 new RCA's. this is my question (s). Like I said I plan on running 3 Line drivers, but is one really needed for the SW channel? and also I would LOVE to place these on my amp rack in the trunk mostly for cosmetics, but I was told place as close to the head unit as possible, if the SQ sacrifice is trivial due to placing it in the trunk VS near head unit, if so I'm willing to do this, but if there is a night and day difference, I guess ill put it close to the HU.

What kind of HU do you have, are you sure you need all 3 of them???

I would go about this in a slightly different fashion. While a line driver of course is a good thing, there is no need for 3 of them when it can be done all in one in a couple of different ways. Look at some of the Audio Control products (conveniently sold by the same great distributor as Focal), if you want to go strictly a line driver route, this is the way to go. Yes it is good to have the sub channel done as well. The downfall here is that you are processing a signal again, every time you do this, there is always some type of degredation of the signal. Another and in my opinion superior route for you to take if you are open to a option, is to replace your cd player with one like an Eclipse CD8445, CD8455 or the new CD5000. All units use a non clipping 8volt rms 55 ohm output on the front / rear / subwoofer channels. In practical hands on experience they are also a amazing cd player for tonal response.

well its a alpine 9835, today i was told 4volt is plenty, the guy i spoke with said if i had a 2volt a line driver would be benificial, but because of the 4 volt preouts, i should be ok, i understand this is one guys opinion, but it made a little sence, what do you all think? worth the money?

less work for the amp but if i have a line set at 8v and my amp can not use that high then theres no point
if i run it up just after the deck then run it down just befor the amp (i have add one thing into my set up can you tell me what i add?)

what do you mean by "less work for the amps". I had a talk with Pioneer a while back and apart from better noise immunity, no one could give me a reason for using line drivers, or the merits of higher preamp outputs.
Sowhere along the line between the CD player and the power amp output stages, several preamp stages are needed. The debate becomes what unit has the better preamp? The HU or the Poweramp?
