Local shop have supplies ot bypass video lock

Question Local shop have supplies ot bypass video lock

Hey folks

Hoping to get my new IVA-w200 installed soon and understand that Alpine and most (probably all) of the manufacturer's fo in dash video units put in special protection so that various features including video won't function while the vehicle is on and in motion. I understand this can be bypassed, and for various reasons may bypass it.

My question is, if a local shop is willing to do it, would they generally have whatever is needed to do so? Is it just a matter of switching some wires here n there...or what all is involved? Is there something else i'd generally need to purchase?

of course, the fact that you can be charged with impaired driving should be a factor in your decision. Also, if your insurance company finds out, and you get into an accident, they will not cover you.

the last time i installed an in dash video unit it was interlocked with the parking brake. In other words, the parking brake had to be engaged for the video to work.
With that info, and the installation manual, you should have all the information needed. BTW, from personal experience, it is VERY VERY distracting to watch video while driving. That is why it is ILLEGAL to do so! I scared the out of myself a couple of times and vowed never ever to bypass the interlock again!

Hmm, maybe we can sum this up: If you are smart enough to figure out how to bypass it, you should be smart enough to know NOT TO WATCH VIDEO WHILE DRIVING!.
Or if you are not smart enough to know how to bypass it, and get someone else do do it for you, then please let me know, so I can stay a mile away from you when you are driving!

i dont know about alpines but i know when i installed a pioneer for a kid in his truck, the only saftey it had was like zoomer said it was interlocked with the ebrake. all i had to do was cut a ground...

older HU's needed only to be grounded out to function... newer ones like the Avic N2 and newer generally have the system intertwined with the VSS wire, and or the GPS system... not as simple as taking a wire and screwing it to the body...
