Looking for a good 12" sub
Hi yall,
You probably all get this question on a daily basis but I'm going to start shopping around for a 12" and I'm looking for suggestions. Here's some criteria to narrow down my selection.
- Most likely being installed in a custom sealed box
- handle up to 400RMS
- 4ohm SVC, or 2ohm DVC
- Price max 150$ + shipping (less is better obviously)
- Mainly going for more SQ than SPL
I was looking at the Diamond D3 and the specs seem to fit the bill except that its suggested they go in a ported box. I was also suggested the Kappa Perfect, but I'm guessing they might be discontinued because they are extremely hard to find. So... looking for more suggestions.
Thanks,

Sub bass response is all about the box, not necessarily the speaker. That said Pioneer is one of the larger manufacturers of speakers as well, not jsut for themselves either. I have lots of suggestions for you. I have a DD sub in need of a new home as well. It would also do the job for you.

I'v got the 12" SSA Dcons dual 4ohm..
$200 shipped and they boast one of the biggest/heaviest
motor structures in it's price range....one year warranty and are reconeable
the Dcon is an SQ based woofer that really digs out the low stuff..very musical

IDQ definitely deserves a look. efficient, amazing SQ, under $150, great in small enclosures, still hit quite hard. up to 500rms. they are proven good subs made by a respectable company.
...isn't a XXX in the 2000RMS range? not 400?
i've never used one, i may be wrong on that.

Thanks for all the suggestions. the Kappa perfects was one of my picks but just extremely hard to find. Type R's are up there too. I never thought of looking at the JBL, will have to check em out as well as IDQ.
