Looking for Suggestions on a 12" SQ Subwoofer
#21
I have put well over 2x the rated rms into the JBL GTI subs
they handle clean power well but do not like a clipped signal at all
the GTI subs smell like burning bamboo when they go up in smoke
another sub I would recommend would be the SSA Icon..they take
more power than the gti and hammer out some really good SQ
...so far the Icon eats all subs I have used for bottom end and
they ahve the flattest response by far..very smooth and dropps
that dig low enough to bring a tear to my eye
...over 143db at 10hz with my 10" Icons.......
the gti subs are disposable..if you blow one it's garbage
the Icons are rebuildable

Yeah that's the only negative with the jbl stuff...the company has no replacement parts for their products...a real **** off. My buddy had one of his c608 gti component midrange stolen in a botched theft. Ofcoarse he just called up jbl and asked to purchase a replacement, and they pretended to actually look into it for him, but after many attempts with the head of customer support he was forced to purchase another set of components (not jbl this time) and is hoping to find a used c608 mid in the future. Really nice when he coughed up 700.00 bucks for those comps and now they're useless.

JBL is REALLY nice stuff SQ wise but the customer care sux azz BIG TIME
the stuff is not easy to fix either..I got a couple JBL amps that have been looked
at by a couple of repair shops with no results..I may end up with some really
expensive boat anchors
