So after having my truck in the shop for extended work rebuilding my E4OD transmission at a kazillion dollars, I top it off by loosing my faceplate.

Any chance anyone has an alpine 7844 faceplate for sale.

Don't know if that helps or not, might be tough to find a replacement face for that deck....

for $40.00 it's your best option.... going to Alpine directly would cost you much more!

Thanks for the lead. Maybe it's just time for a new one.

I always meant to ask, the deck runs very hot. Discs come out of it feeling quite hot, and the deck feels hot all the time.

Do you think it's an install issue, or do some alpine decks run hot?

It depends on many things ... The internal amplifier is the main cause of heat in a head unit, though. However, with my GF's CDA-7893, I do notice that it runs significantly cooler if I reduce the brightness of the buttons and screen.

Alpines are known to run hot.... even without internal amplifiers.... they say it's normal.... I've even heard the 7995's run hot, and they have no internal amp!

My 7894 never ran hot, I had the power wire run right from the battery, and redid my own ground, maybe if they run hot you can try these things, see if it helps, especially the ground.

I've had 3 Alpine decks so far -- every one of them ran noticeably warm.
