Lost as to which Amp to get!

So ive recently picked up a MTX MZS1204, the person I bought it off said I should run it off a 150w amp. However when I look up the specifications of the Sub, they are...

150-300 nominal rms at 4 ohm
600rms Max at 4 ohm

So im lost as to what sub to get .. do I listen to him and get 150w amp, or 300w? Any suggestions would help.

Plus im looking for a mono amp.

No need for a mono amp unless you are going to be adding another sub. Do you plan on upgrading or adding another sub? If the answer is yes, then look for a larger mono amp, if not, then a 2 channel amp that can bridge to mono at 200-350w rms is all you require.

wats the benefit of having a 2 channel amp bridged, compared to a mono?

Most mono amps make their full rated power with two or more subs (and or voicecoils) attached to them. You have a single sub with a single voicecoil, ideally it is suited to a 2 channel amp that when bridged yields maximum power to that single voicecoil. Amp recommendations vary with price range, what price range for a amp are you considering.

Most 2 channel amps make full power at 4 ohms bridged, where as most mono amps do at either 2 or 1 ohm. Hence if you get a mono amp, you won't be able to exploit its full power unless you get another sub(s).

I'd suggest you go with a 300 watt rms 2-channel amp.

makes sense, im looking to spend around $200 .. wouldn't mind a bit cheaper, but wouldnt mind spending a bit more if its really a big difference in quality.

Are you planning on hooking up the othe speakers in your car? Perhaps you might want to consider a 4 channel amp.

What type of vehicle are you driving? I would suggest going with a 4ch amp to power your fronts then bridge the rear for the sub, your fronts will sound a lot better.
