Lawrence, I've tried angling my midbasses. I ran them from about 50hz up to 200hz to test this.

I found that when they are playin by themselves (no mids or tweeters) you can hear a difference in intensity. But imaging in that muddy area doesn't seem to improve unless you do time alignment.(your H700 in action) If you plan on running the midbasses to lets say 500hz, then I'd consider aiming them.

Here is an interm trick you could use:

I've heard of people using blinds on the midbasses. Basically a piece of material that runs around the edge of the driver to limit dispersion to the nearfield listener's ears. I haven't tried this myself, but it's on my list. I'll post some RTA graphs once I get home and do some tests.

I've also just posted my personal midbass mounting construction here:

Hey Adam...thanks...

Door speakers wil play up to 800 hz, so yes, I want to angle them. I will use time alignment too.

how did the modelling clay work? Does it hold up? I am looking for ways to seal the baffle to the door...I was going to use silcone, but modelling clay might work.

Lawrence, I'm not going to speak for all modeling clay in general because there is some bad stuff out there. The stuff to use is from Moyen, they make a good oil based product that you can find a most hobby stores. It comes in many colors.

I'd venture to say that at 800hz, you'll want to have these drivers in the kick area.

I also did some X.O. point testing, and what I found was that SQ wise running as low as you can in the kicks is better. I actually have tried my 4" mids running from 80hz up, but they ran out of excursion at low levels. Again, the best solution would be in the kicks, but I don't know how well your horns will mate to door mounted bass drivers. I could be entirely wrong.

Cool, I had a '97 SVT Cobra. I liked the interior design, but the finish quality wasn't quite....a BMW.

^ I can imagine. But I bet it could punt that Yupstermobile in a straight line though Just razzin'.

Fish, what year? I had a 88 GT 5 speed that Dukk made a set of kicks for with a 4/tweet. There was still enough room I could fit my size 13 shoe behind it to use the dead pedal.

^^^^LOL, that's funny. But you are right SUX, the Cobra was much faster.

...and nice to hear other people have big feet.

(sorry to hijack the thread)

Lawrence, I've got an idea that may help you. But I'll have to check it out first when I get home. My RTA setup has the ability to do radial lobe graphs, that is show directionality of a driver across different frequencies. I'll be in touch.
