Ok, i'm in need of some biiig help...

i have a poineer 7700mp deck...which is fine..my amp is an audiobahn A8002T... problem is, i do not have a clue what sub to match with it...

can anyone help me out? ideally, leeting me know what kind of sub, ive heard this is the best?

"dual 2 ohm version and wire it in series to a 4 ohm load"

and listing some subs that are a good match.

your amp claims to do:
200 x 2 @ 4 ohms
400 x 2 @ 2 ohms
800 x 1 @ 4 ohms bridged

in reality, id say more like:
140 x 2 @ 4 ohms
280 x 2 @ 2 ohms
560 x 1 @ 4 ohms bridged

if you are going for 2 subs, make sure that are dual 4 ohm subwoofers
if you are going for 1 sub, make sure it is a dual 2 ohm woofer

it depends how loud you want it to go... i think 400 watts would be enough for most ppl...

i've heard from reading on the forum that wiring in series isn't a good idea... i don't remember why, so maybe someone can enlighten us...

there are a lot of choices in the 400 watt range... Image Dynamics IDQ 12", JL 12w3v2... a lot of other GOOD subs too.

oh im sorry i meant no offence by that.
from my experience i've noticed that audiobahn amps are quite overrated.

wiring in parallel and series should be no difference from one another, either way the same power goes to the viocecoils so there is no problem.

i was talking to another member of CCA just yesterday and he told me that there was a thread on series vs. parallel wiring and how they are the same SPL and SQ wise.

so theres no difference whether you wire it in parallel or series.

Wiring in series with a 2 ohm sub is the one of the two safe ways to go. The other is to choose a single voice coil 4 ohm driver. In this case the amp is not stable to 2 ohm mono, thus trying to drive a sub like this will result in damage to the amp and more than likely to the sub due to clipping. It is all about matching the sub to the capabilities or limitations of the amplifier.

hdave - even the guesstimates that you made on the amp for power ratings are still high.

get any sub rated between 400 - 700 rms.

what do you define as good?

do you want good sound quality, or you want it to get loud?
