Max Speakers?

Hey everyone,

I know I used to see them for sale at The Speaker Shop on Eglington a bunch of years ago and I remember that they were a fair price.

The website maxspeakers.com works with limited info.

Anyone use them?
Any good?
Stay away?
Any thoughts?

Thanks

BTW I tried the search and I just got pages and pages of Ebay posts.

Definitely a eastern Canada phenomonon. Every now and then I get the odd military guy in my shop that has transferred in from Petawawa or Borden or points east that has a Max branded speaker. They are ok and do the job for these people, they seem to be happy with them. For support out here for them though, non existent. Most of these guys end up upgrading into differing speakers.

site seems static since 2005. lol "Fastest growing brand in Canada"..

IIRC and from what I just saw, it's all rebranded stuff fom any number of speaker wholesalers.

Solen sells their current line out of Montreal. I used to deal with Frank from The Speaker Shop and last talked to him several years ago after they'd closed the store. The current Max line bears a remarkable resemblance to older Dynaudio offerings.

Thumbs up

I remember those subs.....met a guy years ago who had a pair of the 10s in a bandpass box. Loud as hell but definitely a one note wonder....they sounded much better in a sealed box about half the size of the BP......

I've had the 6-1/2 pentivents (Midbass) and the fidelity tweeters and Id say if you have a good install you'd be shocked how good these sound.

Frank still has the store and the speakershop.ca site is just getting up to date. Solen does still have maxspeaker drivers, new neo tweets I heard maybe here this spring/summer .

Check out solen.ca I wouldn't really call them cheap at least not the fidelity serries by any means. But ive also heard dyno's and am running c720prs now and would place them up there.

Really good speakers in my opinion.

How's that for a first post lol.

I have a 10" Max Performance sub hanging on my wall that the glued on motor fell off of when I hit a bump. Paid ~$40 for it, and coincidentally, has a very ID-ish basket. Hmmm....
