Mazda 6 Head Unit.

Anyone replaced their Mazda 6 H.U. with an aftermarket? Did you use the Metra kit or one of the others? Did you get the steering whee control integration dealy? What H.U. did you put in?

I have an '06 Mazda 6 and want to put in an aftermarket but it's not cheap to do this to a Mazda 6. *sigh*

Usually with every car, you can purchase a Metra dash kit. Those are usually easy to find. Just find the year/type of car on the back of it. And don't forget the factory harness adapter.

Some decks do come with the steering wheel control integration, I know it is available on the Eclipse CD5030.

Are you going to be doing the install yourself?

Yes, I would be doing it myself. The Mazda 6 is different, and has its own special kit, which includes HVAC circuitry I believe, as well as Hazard switch and would cost around $200 for that alone. I would then also need steering wheel controls and wiring harness. I was wondering if any other Mazda 6 owners have upgraded.

Nope I didn't. I've just done a whole lot of research, as well as talked to a few people on mazda6club.com and such. It's a complicated setup >.< yay for me...

if i were you, i would get myself a quality interface module like an RE-Q, 3sixty.2, JL Cleanweep, or Audiocontrol product and go from there as it is, like you said above, a very expensive and time consuming thing to change the headunit in your car.
