Mids/tweeters/image tweeters installed...PICS

Okay, so I received my CDT ES-620's finally and got around to getting them installed. Thanks to the Chevy Malibu's great mounting depth there were no clearance issues with my 3/4" MDF rings.

I initially had the tweeters in the stock location as seen in the pics. I found they did not sound very good at all. I moved them down to a few inches above the woofer. I wanted to install them with the angle mount provided by CDT however they wouldn't sit properly so I chose to flush mount them.

The sound stage was quite low so I experimented with adding another set of tweeters from my Energy set in the stock location. The CDT crossover I have has outputs for Image Tweeters. Sounded much better but the soundstage was still a little low. Ended up having the CDT tweeters in phase and the Energy tweeters out of phase.

In the end it sounds good to me. That being said I have ZERO friends locally to audition them for that actually know vehicle SQ. So if there is anything about this install that you see could be changed let me know.

Thanks

I would paint the tweeter grills to match the door so they're not so obvious...and if you can find some sail panels without the tweeter mounting that would be sweet.

Also the x-overs in the door pocket with the wires all showing and would bug the out of me.I put mine inside the door panel, hidden out of sight. But that's just me.

Also I agree with Veeman. I think I would paint the grills and mounting ring to better match the door panel.Seems like a bit of an eye sore.

I agree with painting the tweeters. I was hesitant though because the mesh grill portion which directly covers the dome is not removable so I didn't want to paint the actual speaker accidentally. Anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish that let me know.

The crossovers are mounted temporarily until I was done playing with the settings. Right now I am utilizing a lot of stock wire however when I change to some aftermarket I will decided where best to move them.

I had though about the inside of the door however mine is not totally sealed so there could be moisture inside, especially come winter.

If you can't get the mesh off, wrap the tweeter with color match grill cloth and then attach it to the door.
