Regarding audiobahn.. i never really liked them.. the flame series wa sa decnt sub till we blew the coil like one month into use.. as for Fosgate.. c'mon.. if you look back at Gold series amps.. and the crap they sell now through large electronic chains.. theres no comparison. I still have 2 Punch 60's kicking round that'd blow alot of new stuff out of the water.

Quite a bit of the structural integrity of a vehicle is found in the rear deck. Remove the metal out of there and you are inviting disaster in the event of a minor collision. So remove that metal and you need to add something to keep it strong again. It can be done, it is just $$$$ to do it.

The current Power series of RF amps are some of the best amps RF has ever made. Period
The same can be said for the T1 and T2 in terms of subs. As for older RF subs there aren't many that will come close in output and only a few that I feel sound better for pure SQ purposes (favourite RF SQ subs were from mostly the '98 era).

Anyways, in respect to the original poster here lets stay on topic as the oldschool vs. newschool has been discussed to death already. And yes I've been in car audio since 1991 so I remember the old days.

My plan was never to completely remove the rear deck and install a box. I was figuring on enlarging current holes in the metal, and fashioning a fiberglass/MDF enclosure around the subs.

Anyways, you guys have helped. I think i will stick with the one size sub(probably 10"s) thinking JLs. Any tips on how/where to put them?

your accord is a similar size to my sonata, and ive been playing around with box position quite a bit.

im running around 450rms watts to a single 12", in a sealed box firing straight back at the center line of the car.
so far its the best that ive tried, although im thinking about moving the sub to a custom fiberglassed corner mount.

generally you want to fire against something solid, but feel free to play around with positioning.

ya the Audiobanh's are wicked subs but i blew them all up , it looked good doing it though
