modded my 2 ultimate t3 100ds
ya... some year and a half+ has passed since i last used my ultimate amps, and did a search just reciently on topics relivant to them. my brother and i went over their boards and found some scary results for anyone still playing with em!!!
- my brother is fully cert. in multiple fields including engineiring/designing circuts, and this is what we found.... for ***** and giggles....
- 1st their power connection from wire lead to board was wowfully undersised easily resolved by burning board/expanding traces from power source
- many diodes/electrodes extremely undersised... underrated...crap.
- caps undersised for total potential draw (all total by alot)
- just no logic as to some circuit layout/overall conflicts
- the one positive is their output mosfets were in total WAY overkill for what WAS needed..... hhmmmmmmm
- result from baseline tests...... u wont believe it but.....
- factory amp clamp results 4ohm unrestricted =1873w rms
- modded results = 2178w rms @ 4ohms .... wow...eh?
- factory results @ 2ohm .... unstable past 1/2 volume .... 3078w before getting screwy.
- modded results = maxed the current draw at 300amps and still stable after pushing the heat gauges past 145 in the first 5 min. and was hungry for much more.... not even 2/3 tilt.....wtf??? not bad for all the bad press these amps got back in the day, eh? 120 volt power supply was maxed/ heated up/ stank :0 never happened before on any other amp test ... he he
so, knowing what you read.... what theroretacial output can be precieved knowing these numbers so far, my bro has his math/ theroy worked out just wanting to get the gurus/old schoolers in on this one before i spill the beans!!!

i mean by wow is anyone who knows circuits/amp straping.... especially internally knows there is some/alot of flexibility dependant on how it is strapped. the numbers imply that each t3 500d shuld be easily stable to 2 0hms, and they did the same x2 config with the proper steps to make this amp 1-4 ohm stable.... although almost no one can feed 14.7+volts min. to keep it stable at 1.5ohms @ 400+ amp draw modded, let 12.5volts at 2ohm minimum
