I've never tried to put in a 2nd CD in my GM? Wouldn't it sound bad? Or would we just call that a MIX?

I just talked to her and she tried to put in another cd but realized that there was one in there and took it out but the 1st one is jamed in there.
sound obsesions told her that they could put in an aftermarket deck (which is only $150) but the harness is $200?? doesn't seem right to me.
Gm wants around $800 to fix it??? what the hell is going on in alta???/ oh she is from bc and knows nothing about stereos lets rip her off!!!!

ya well they told her that they would have to take the deck out and send it to calgary to get fixed and by the time she got it back (1 week later) that the bill would be somewhere in the $800 range.
But check this out....I called her and told her to take a pair of tweezers and open the flaps up so she can see the cd and then take a butter kniife and get it under the cd and hit the eject button. she did and called me back to tell me that she got it out. the deck works fine now.
Sound obsesions in fort mcmurray wouldn't even go out to the car and look at it...they just tried to sell her something else. so they lost the sale to my mom as she was going to get them to put in an aftermarket deck (untill they told her that the harness was $200) and my sister was going to go to them for an upgrade in her truck but is going to wait till she comes here and is going to get me to do the upgrade for her instead.
still waiting for a response from sound obsesions reguarding the e-mail i sent them questioning them on why their price was so high and why they wouldn't go out and look at the deck in the car.

here's yet another good one guys.
I just called beamriders here in poco and unless you want all the bells and and extras that go with the malibu's stereo system ( chimes and stereo staying on after you shut the car off and untill you open the door) the harness for the aftermarket deck is only $20 not the $200 that they originally quoted her.
I guess they saw her comming and thought that they could make some easy money.

While it is not proper for me to comment on what another business charges, the expensive harness is the proper and legal way to do this. In Canada it is illegal to remove a safety device from a vehicle. The chime module is classified as a safety device thus it cannot be removed from the vehicle from a legal standpoint. What makes it a safety device is what you are thinking. The seatbelt reminder circuit is part of the chime module. As a dealer if I had removed the chime module and you had been in a car accident, any lawyer would have sued my **** off for removing a safety device. So, if you want it done properly, you use the expensive harness. I will not install on any of the GM vehicles without using the proper parts, it is not worth my reputation as a dealer. At the least though, they should have explained this to you and gone out to the vehicle, pliers in hand to see what can be done. Customer service or lack therof?

Well I didn't know that the seat belt warning buzzer was hooked to the stereo...but now i do (filed under things to remember for future installs) and yes they could have explained this to her.
also they could have gone out to the vehicle and had a look to see if they could unjam the cd....if i know my mom she would have bought them a case of beer for doing it.
Oh well their loss for crappy coustomer service.
