850 watts @ 80 amps eff 75% @ 4 ohms

1000 watts @ 113 amps eff 68% @ 2 ohms

1000 watts @ 132 amps eff 53% @ 1 ohm

It is not about ohm load, it is all about the draw. Just b/c your amps efficiency drops dramatically doesnt mean it applies to all class D amps, it only speaks for the amp u are using. I know i would not want to use an amp that does same power at 1 or 2 ohm while drawing more current and being less efficient at 1 ohm than 2, what is the point of an amp like that?

Matt can get a normal 1 ohm stable 600 watt amp and he will be just fine like the other 99.8% of people out there.

 

It is more important to see if the damping factor is lower than 25 at 1 ohm for sound quality. And I specified that. I suggest Matt pays attention to that more, as he really has no choice in load differences anyways, as he already has the subs.

As far as efficiency goes under 1 or 2 ohm loads, there is no way 1 ohm load is equally efficient percentage-wise, as any amp at 1 ohm will work harder, therefore creating more heat, therefore giving up efficiency. Simple physics.

Well as of right now I'm SUPER confused. So what your saying is that... well I'm just going to be honest I don't really know what your saying. But basically any Amp that can put out 500w RMS at 1 or 2 ohms will work just fine for me?

 

Ok, Matt! I think this is what you might want to go with, and I dont think I will get much apposition for suggesting the following:

1. Look for a 1-channel amp(monoblock Class D)
2. Amp must be able to work at 1 ohm (i.e. 1 ohm stable)
3. It would be nice to have the amp produce up to 1000 watts rms at 1 ohm(p.s same amp would produce less at 2 ohms and even less at 4 ohms)
4. If amplifier manufacturer tells you the damping factor, go for the one, which is rated at least 100(look for the info on the specifications sheet)
5. Go for a reputable brand name. Here is a list you may find usefull

now if i'm not mistaken if i were to look for a mono block amp that is capable of connecting 2 subs with to connections on the out side wouldn't that give me more options? b/c then i can run the subs at 2ohms and still get the same out of the subs?
