This is a MUCH better topic than stiffening capacitors |
Dukk, I think Vroom just called you a girl!! (Beatles reference).
Like I said, I don't mind that it doesn't seem obvious. I 'NEVER' would have believed it. In fact, I think I giggled when a salesman suggested it to me. I am though, as I have mentioned in the past, working on something for all of you, that will let you experience the diffrence between equipment of all types. Just give me a little more time... |

Anyway - Dave the perfect comparison machine exists already: the ABX box. Wire guys never want to talk about it though ;) |
Their are ppl that can hear the diffrence between rcas.. They are all on Revscene :D

Wireworld makes (or made) a cable comparator that compares the cable under test to no cable at all... it looks like a pain but it is considered a reviewers tool. It isn’t too far off from what SUX2BU was suggesting but a touch more elegant and it probably costs a small fortune… I noticed after D-50 pointed it out to me I was name dropping but I don’t think there are too many dealers who sell the above mentioned product, so at least I am a poor shill (there is a Canuk distributor but car audio is not their market).

The ABX box is a great idea, but the fact that it was put into the signal path will likely be enough to nullify the benefits of the better cables...
Dukk, I ain't fighting with you. You know I respect your opinions just as much as everyone else (and much more than some). You've done your test, and you didn't hear a difference, so it's not worth it to you. That's really the end of the discussion. I got a buzz off all the cool metalurgucal arguments that Audioquest had. And I only looked them up to support what I had heard, because honestly, I thought it was a bunch of crap untill that point. I'm all good... Everyone else should be. There's no need for name-callin' or cheap shots or anything else. A good old-school discussion about cables is all it is. For each debate there must be two camps, Dukk leads one, I am part of the other. [ December 17, 2003, 09:35 PM: Message edited by: Dave_MacKinnon ] |
I have some monster cable. I like how it looks... but the quality to me isnt what it should be.
I baught them and I think they are supose to be the best they make (prob wrong) but they are bigger then the 4awg power wire I use ot have...but tiny wires inside. AND the actual metal hook seperates way to easy (see all the time) from the rubber protection.... man that sucks. Here are pics. http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...17_15_full.jpg http://images.cardomain.com/member_i...17_14_full.jpg |
The RCA is Monster (and fairly recent) but I havent seen that particular cable before nor have I seen a Monster with only 2 conductors before

For sure Dave - don't think I am fighting or feel any animosity or anything. I'm just representing the other side here. I've only played with interconnects up to a couple hundred bux a metre anyway - which is more than I would ever pay so I am happy to be of the opinion that I am (that is, the RIGHT one :D ) AAAAAAA - I've seen those cables. I thought the same thing about the way the rubber attaches to the end - cheeeeezay! Like where's the barrel They look damn purty though. |
