Check this thread out. its long, but very worth it to scroll through. some of those amps on there are amazing. tristan20 seems to have some serious equipment, and lots of it.

The hd stuff came out in 1991-1992. At that time It was a big change for rockford. Before that the only amps they had were punch 45/75/150 and the power series were 300/650/1000. The hd line was the new way rockford was making amps with these small components that couldnt be replaced (SMT/SMP). I never found a tech that could replace these if they went bad. That genaration couldnt be run at 2ohm mono and will cause damage if you do. The older units will run lower with the fuzes "slugged". That new way of building amps led to the cheeper series 1 line and to the begining of lower quality rockford.
I had a customer with a 15 year old p45 still pounding. The amp died and we replaced it with a 3002. It wasnt even close! we had the p45 repaired, and a happy customer. that is a great amp!

I never noticed any drop in performace in the HD stuff from previous amps. And yes it was the start of Surface Mount Technology for amps - stuff competitors would be claiming as 'new and revolutionary' 5 and 6 years later. Back then RF lead the way in innovation.

The P100 is cool - essentially two P30s in one chassis. I have brochures at home from that era.
