My amateur installation. Pics. Critique and advise.

Hi all,

Here are some pics of a recent installation in my 90 Mustang coupe. Keep in mind, I'm no custom installer, so be gentle. I'll welcome some criticism and advice, if you've got any.
I had a very small trunk to work with, so I decided to go with 1 10" in a small prefab bassworx box. It's pretty much the only one I could find that would fit my trunk. Three orientations work: aim sub into cab, aim sub upwards, or aim sub toward rear (this leaves only 1 or 2 inches from rear of trunk). Currently the sub is firing into the cab.
Here's the run down on rest of system:

PPI 4200am 4 channel
2 6x9 Eclipse in rear (hooked to PPI)
2 Crunch 6 1/2 in each door (hooked to PPI)
2 tweeters in dash (they came with the car) running off the deck
Rockford Punch 150 (running the sub)
10" JBL GT sub (1000 watt)
Alpine 9805 deck
Soundstream EQ/Active crossover

After some tuning, it's beginning to sound pretty good, except for the tweeters, which start crackling at high volume. I've partially faded them out with the deck. I believe I some passive crossovers somewhere I could use to make them sound better. The sub impressed me the most. That Punch has some serious JUICE!!! You old school guys are right though, you could fry eggs on it!!! The PPI gets a little warm, but nothing in comparison. Here are the pics:

I like the custom dash install kit you made there, looks tight and clean. As for the sub, personally, I would fire it to the rear

And for the tweeters, what is you HPF set to on the deck??

That and cover the backs of them speakers in the rear deck. The pressure from the sub will make them sound bad. My. 02 ...

This deck does not have a built in crossover, at least not that I could find. In my other car, I have the 9811 and it does, so I know where to look. How would I remedy that? Install some passive crossovers? I'm still very new to this. Thanks for the input.

Box will do .... a cover of any sort really. Heck it could be your first try at fiberglass. Doesn't have to be anything special just cover the back area around the speaker and seal against the rear deck. This way the subs can't interfere with your speakers. You'll also get more midbass by covering the backs of them.

to solve your tweeter issues, buy a set of crossovers from a component set. i'm guessing your front speakers are coaxial... they will now be turned into a component midbass. if the issue still pursists, then the tweeters are shot, and you'll need a new pair, which wont cost too much.

as far as subwoofer location, subs back for sure... looks like you have lots of room to work with but it could just be the angle the picture was taken at. as said above, that amp rack panel is gonna have a negative effect on your bass response.

overall its nice and clean. congrats

P.M. me bro I have a set of JL VR650 CSi components. 1 midbass is shot, the other is spoken for. If you want we can work a deal for the tweeters and passive xovers. They are curently installed in my car and can be heard.

From what i understand, you running full range to your tweets? Ye, that's a no no.

I second what Jalat said about turning your mid-bass coaxial into a mid-bass/tweeter component set by buying a passive crossover.

Oh, good eye on the rears, did not notice that. Protecting them would be recommended also.
