My best friend wants a JL W7, what else is comparable?

hi guys, my best pal wants a little 20CM, 8inch: W7 for his older civic hatchback. He wants something that sounds great, like super tight bass, but he also wants something that can pound out the tunes when he wants. I dont know why hes do set on that. He was also considering a Eclipse Titanium. In your opinion... and experience, whats the best thing for him to do. Im assuming hes looking at driving it at 600 watts RMS or less. in a smaller box (its REALLY small back there....) so waddaya think? any thoughts? hes pairing it up with a PG Titanium 600RMS amp, which only drives the front two PG 300RMS 6.5" two way drivers... the drivers can do about 40 HZ or less, so just something for the low end

they dont need a big box at all and it will do very good i have heard on before but dont expect to break records with it but... that PG Ti 600.2 will distroy it so your friend should think about getting a 10 just to be safe

I thought it was a taste test? The Elipse titanium is a devasting sub. If his amp is 2 ohm mono stable then it would be a good way to go, otherwise I would suggest the 10" aluminum svc 4 ohm version in a small sealed box of between .75 and 1.25 cu.ft. Glass the box into one corner of the vehicle and there will be oodles of room left over.

Assuming 8" is the size you have to run with
W7
RE
L7
are all good choises, I would recommend the W7 or L7 for the amount of power he wants to run... if a 10" can fit it opens up more options
I dont think PG makes an 8" sub
I dont think the XXX comes in an 8" sub

wow thanks for the response everybody. He doesnt have an amp yet, he'll buy some other PG titanium series just for the sub. Im sure a 10 or even a 12 would work, space permitting, but seriously, its really tight back there, like a small beer cooler or a stuffed normal sized duffel bag, but thats it. He just wants one 'Good' sub, no screwing around with multiple jobs. Can someone tell me about the "resonant" engineering XXXX sub, sounds tasty.
