OK i had buddy build me a box, cause it turns out i'm handicapped. It's been a solid box, but i've come to decide it's fairly peaky, if i move the xover a tiny bit one way or another i shouldn't notice a huge huge difference should i?
Well i totally do, and it doesn't seem to hit a lotta notes, sometime i'm gonna try and put together a test tone cd of various tones to see what exactly it does play and how much before it drops off. What makes a box peaky like this? [ June 02, 2004, 09:22 PM: Message edited by: Hardcore Rock Superstar ] |
If it's ported, try to lengthen the port.
|
Type of box?
Box volume? Brand/model of woofer? These are essential details... |
ehh i shoulda grabbed all the specs from the dude, but he's got it on a pc that doesn't connect to the internet....
it's a pair of 12" alpine type r subs, seperate chamber, seperate ports box is 38" wide...i'll have to to some measureing here in a moment - give me a few, gotta shower n then go get rent and i'll measure at that point how tall it is, and how deep it is at top n bottom |
Also measure inside port length,
port diameter and let us know what thickness the wood is. |
yes i'm an artist, no need to tell me how good the picture is

First thing your shop is an F'ing mess get your crap together and......lol just kidding
Try stuffing the ports/blocking them to esentially seal the box. If you find that the box now plays better it's probably incorrectly tuned (as in port length). Not to familiar to Alpine gear but are they speced for use in a ported box ? |
What is the top depth of the box?
|
woops, sorr top depth is 10"
width:38" height:10" top depth:10" bottom depth:14" back board:14.5" thickness:0.75" Ports 2x 8x3" rounds |
Model number for the subs? SWR-1241D?
