Dukk....That is a great way to set gains for most subs but the Brahma is a little different. Due to the design of the Brahma's they often give no indication of stress until damage is done....odviously making gain setting by ear very dangerous.

I'd reccomend using Totoro's method of gain setting....just set the clipping ratio according to power and enclosure. With you amp and enclosure you'll be safe with a 2:1 ratio.

A 2:1 clipped signal in the lower octaves is all but inaudible to the human ear.....now add the rest of the music, a trunk etc...

Now.....What if the amp produces enough power to push the sub past it's limits with no clipping? In most cases the sub will give you plenty of warning before the limits. Brahma's are linear until VERY close to their limits. This provides the most Xmax possible given the design. (a good thing)

Um... Ok... mcchicken is right that almost the entire stroke of the brahma is linear... What, 28mm linear xmax while xsus is 32mm ?? (it's something like that anyway)

But you should still be able to tell if you are overexcurting the driver wether it's linear up to that point or not!!!

But that is besides the point since I think dukk was talking about setting the gains so the amp dosen't clip...

Just to let you know the only way at this time to get the Avionixx amps is through Elemental Designs in the US. At this time there is no dealer or distrubutor for Canada.
