a new computer power supply is under $100, and it'll put out lots more power than an old one. just hook them in paralell
|
Not really the new one only does 12 amps and mine does 9 thats not much difference
|
is that supply even big enough???
i am going ot be doing this with a few extra things i have. i did it before but the power supply went into clip all the time. what i am doing is taking the subwoofer pre-out on my receiver and splitting it into right / left pre-outs. running these through a powered PLD-1 line driver and into a huge 2 channel car amp then into a pair of PPI flat piston 10's in individual boxes located at the corners of my room. i did it with two other subs and it was SICK, at minimum volume.. any more and it cut out. i ordered a big fat pyramid power supply (i know pyramid..blah, but power is power) so that i can run it at decent volumes. it has adjustable voltage so i can play with that as well.. |
Get a proper 12v supply, a PC supply won't cut it.
|
agreed?
but then i dont see any subs there, just a pair of 6 x 9's and 5.25's off a deck... maybe the comp supply will do for that. |
Well, my new computer power supply puts out 33amps on the 12volt side..
