My system so far pt 2

Hey guys back again, lol got a few questions..

My system so far.

Car : 99 Grand Am GT Ram Air 2 door.
Amps: Clarion DPX 1151 (1550W) [Is that RMS or Peak]
Clarion APX 4240 (240W) [RMS Or Peak]
Sub: 13.5" JL Audio W7 [In a box built to speck by yours truly]
Capacitor: Tusami 2
Farad
20VPC
95 Dagrees C [WTF does that mean?]
Head Unit: Kenwood KVT-512

Now some of the questions i have are above in the [ _ _ _ ]

Also im looking to purcase a wiring kit, now i dont really know what gage i need, i may be looking to expand to a differnt type of amp later on so i was thinking 0 gage? I dont want to have to do another install again if i choose to expand.

Now to the box, built to JL Spec Think i went a little over board used 3/4 " MDF With MDF Screws sealed using woodglue and im not so good at cutting so sealed again with caulking.

Heres some pics.

the specs for your amp are in RMS. use 0gauge wire. since the amp needs 0 anyway... might need to make a run of 0 and one of 4g for the smaller amp. looks good anyway

vaseline. hope thats your gurls cream and not yours lmao

Its for my soft skin lmao I work in a body shop dry hands suck.

lol ok :P

that W7 is going to hammmmmmer man. definately going to need some 0 ga. stock electrical.... :S u might need to upgrade with 1500+rms
big 3 upgrade, possibly second battery even with that cap as its not going to do much

Looks good so far.....wondering why you went sealed on the box.....those woofers love a ported enclosure.....:smilie_da

I would use '0' ga.....if you're going to keep the car for a while it will handle enough current for another amp if you decide to add one later.

The 95 degree C mark is the maximum temperature the cap will work properly at......much higher and the internal resistance starts to climb, which defeats the purpose of having it......:ohwell:

Couldn't find the model # you posted, but the DPX 11551 and the DPX 11500 are both rated at 1500w RMS @1 or 2ohm loads (different model years, same basic amp), the 4240 is rated at 60W X 4 @ 4ohms

HTH

why do ppl like to use caps for? doesnt' make any sense to me! for the same price you can get a kinetik hc600 or a hc1400 and those work 1000000times better then any cap out there and good part they cost about 20-50 more then a cap!!!! caps are just a glorified volt meter lol!!! (if it has a read out that is)

caps do have a purpose, they are not the end all but they do a couple nice things, 1 they filter out any dc voltage (look at how an amp works) second they do release a bit of current quickly to help counteract sudden voltage drops when the amp draws lots as long as the rest of the electrical system is not already being stressed for current. Now would there be anything u guys can suggest that I would need or could use? And yes the cap does have a digital reader

If you need an extra caps to filter the ripple from the alternator change the bad alternator or the cheap amp (an amp does have its own internal caps for the PS)

Also, most of the time the voltmeter on those caps are not even reading the right value...
