Hey guys

I have been searching around for a mid that i can fit into my wrx. Its has a very limited mounting depth. I finally decided that i like the alpine spx-177a. and i found a place selling it at 300 + tax.

Anyway, with a little reasearch i have heard that this speaker will fit in the wrx. And ppl at auto sound design have claimed to have installed the speaker into the 03 wrx (they are asking $675 for it installed ). however they did mention that it might not fit into the 04 wrx because of a bigger windown track nut that is used. which might cut down clearence.

Anyway i need to make sure, before i go and order these. So does any one have a 6 1/2" mid with a 70.3mm / 2.73" mounting depth. that i can try out. If i can get the exact same speaker, that would be even better. but probably not. I just need one mid.

anyway,
any help is appreciated.
thanks.
bran.

It would help if you gave us the name and model of the speaker your talking about.

Type X speakers are pretty deep, I'm surprised they'd fit. I used to have a set, very good speakers.

If this is a mounting problem in a door and the window track is too close to the magnet, the window track can also be moved and spaced back to allow a greater clearance for a deep speaker. This process if done correctly will not have any adverse effects on the window seals, power window motors of manual window cranks.
