need help choosing component speakers thx!

i have 2 alpine type r 12" in seperated sealed box pushed by alpine pdx1.1000w amp. factory bose speakers can not compete those subs so i need upgrade. i like rock and hiphop rap sometimes, any suggestions on some good component speakers with good powerful midbass? (like those no name brand 8 inches from my wife's mercedes ml350)how's boston's pro 6.5 component sounds? newbie to the field and have no chance to check them out by my ears. thanks!

Well to be honest, I love Bostons stuff, always great quality and a nice sound. I am in the market for some components as well. I have heard from all spectrums of all scales, and of course money gets you a better product hands down. If your really an audiophile, I would personally recomend Focal they have always had a great product line.

In the last week or 2 I have heard components from Diamond Audio, Image Dynamics, Boston Acoustics, and JVC's new line of Arsenal gear (some would contest but the new JVC Arsenal 6.5 Components sound fairly good for JVC lol). However, if your gonna spend some high dollars, I would recomend Boston's top end line the SPZ's. they sound just amazing, clear, and very loud if you need them to be. The tweeter is really sweet with lots of depth and image. The Pro line is great as well, but Im not a fan of the tweeter for some reason, it was too bright and sharp if that makes any sense? Not as warm and soft to the ears, so it would not get too in depth to the vocal or musical reproduction, or it would even tend to walk on other parts of the music so that you couldn't hear them. It seems to me the pro set has an awsome midrange however, but the tweeter is my personal beef with them. I was at my local audio shop, and I heard a set of the boston pro mid ranges with an Image Dynamics tweeter and the boston x-over and I almost melted. Great midbass and it seemed to hit every note I could put in its face. And the sound was warm, almost roomfilling. Like you almost had a pair of high quality headphones on or something. I was in awe! hope this helps in your search, and I hope I provided a bit of insight.

Check Ebay for Diamond Audio HEX now under $200. Probably best sound for under $200. Midrange is great, but midbass is a bit week, but if you deaden doors, and run a sub, you should not have any problems. Clarity is GREAT!

spz

thanks to infin1ty that's very helpful. i've also heard some cons about boston's tweeter. only if i can afford two pairs of SPZs plus a decent 4 chan amp i will go for them. i would like my budget stay around 1000 for 4 speakers and amp, so SPZs are out unless i only need one pair, maybe even to back seaters, one pair of SPZ sounds better than two pairs Pro too? confusing..

Well Sasha has a damn good point as well. The Diamonds are a vrey resonable speaker, and by looking at the price of 200$ per pair on e-bay thats a pretty good deal. The sound will be close to what you may be looking for, its always tough to pass judgment on a speaker you have never actually "heard", so to each his own. But w/e you decide to do let us know.

Depends on the sets, (model). And let me know what model, I would love to hear your thoughts on what you liked and did not like, why and why nots. Ya know, the average routine. And i please let me know what HU your running.

Good choice on Diamond Hexes, but are you going to run both Diamonds and Bostons(Pro's?) at the same time. If so, I would not recommend mixing brands, as timbre may be out if whack. I would get two sets of the same. Amp is nice too. It is small, and it has a small heatsink, so it heats up quite a bit, so try to mount it with some breathing space.

Oh, did you get Diamonds with aluminums or silks?

, but unfortunately the seller i usually do purchase with does not have any diamond components in stock, nice seller who helped me big on my home theatre system, so i may stick to his bostons..now my question became: SPZ+factory bose(mazda 6)+2 12inch type r or boston pro60+another boston pro60+2 12inch type r, which set sounds better? i am brand new rookie, the only thing i can tell is pricewise they are pretty close. thanks~
