"need the help of an experienced basshead to help me decide"
Hey guys,
I am trying to decide between the alpine type r 1242d and the pheonix gold rsdc-124 competetion sub. Both are 12" subs. Both have dual 4 ohm voice coils. The alpine is rated for 500 rms, has a sensitivity of 87db and 18mm of x-max. The pheonix gold is rated for 600 rms, has a sensitivity of 92db and 14.8mm of x-max.
My box is 2cf ported tuned to 32hz. My amp is pushing 650 rms 2 ohms mono. The car is a 98 ford contour. The box is in the trunk facing backwards. The rear seats can fold down. Which sub will produce the loudest, deepest bass??
Thanks

I would take an ALpine over a PG any day. Take a serious look at Clarion subs. I have been running 2 10s since April and am just amazed. I have won SQ and SPL trophies with them. They get insanely loud and sound awesome while they do.

......I had a 15" jbl sub in a camaro hatchback a long time ago, pointing upwards against the rear hatch glass, that would hit 133 db listening to dance/rap, with only 200 watts rms. The jbl had a sensitivity of 97db.Now i have a 12" infinity in a ford contour( in the trunk). It has a sensitivity of 93 db. I am giving it a clean 450 watts rms.I can make the top part of the front windshield flex a little. It sounds almost as good as the jbl did. I am wondering if i will have to go to a 15" to be happy, or is there a 12" that will do the trick??
Thanks...........
Thanks...........
