Unhappy

A friend of mine has recently done something that I'm not sure of how to fix.

She has a 2003 Hyundai Elantra that came with a factory Clarion CD player. She accidently inserted her Parking Pass(a flat peice of plastic) into the CD player!!! Now it won't come out...

I have no idea how she did that...but she did.

Is there any way I can get it out now? Do I have to remove it and take it apart or is there some type of reset button on it etc..??

THANKS A MILLION!

I am not sure how the factory CD player works. But 99% of aftermarket ones have a reset feature that will force stuck CD's out. Read the factory user manual to check for this feature.

If nothing like that exists then pull the sucker out and take it apart. Usualy it is just a top plate that will give you access to that part of the HU

Thanks guys...now for the real question that I knew I would have to ask...

Does ANYONE know how to get this factory deck OUT!? I can't seem to find ANYTHING online at all...I loved installdr.com but it doesn't even have a single Hyundai guide...

THANKS AGAIN!

Normally with Hyundais the dash bezel has to e removed. I can't remember if I've done an '03 model yet, but I'm assuming nothings changed... If that's the case, there's usually a few screws to take out, normally hiding behind the ash tray. There may be more, so just look closely. Before you try to pull the bezel off, you'll probably have to disconnect the climate control cables from behind the dash. This is why I hate Hyundais... IIRC, they did away with this method with their newer models, so you may not even have to worry about it. But if you do, look above and to the right of the gas pedal. You'll see two metal cables attached to a couple of shafts. You have to pull those off. There's normally another one behind the glove box as well. Once those are off, the bezel should come off fairly easily, and then you can remove the HU.

Anyhow, if you can't figure it out then you can stop by the install bay at Future Shop on Wellington St. since you're in the area, and I'll give you a hand. If I see the dash it will refresh my memory.

Ex-Maxx,

Thanks a TON man!! And that's so awsome that you're here in London at my local FutureShop! That's crazy...

Do you know Scott from the install bay at the Wellington location?? He's a buddy of mine that I used to work with...

Normally I go to the Richmond location because I am close with John and Dale from there...

It's great to know that if I need a hand I can just stop by and see you though because your FutureShop is only like 2 seconds from where I live...that versus driving all the way up Richmond north...

By the way, what is your name? Mine is Jeff...

THANKS!

Ya mon, both Scott and I are full-time installers at the Wellington store. I used to work at the Masonville location way back in the day with Jon, but then I moved to South. Feel free to stop by any time! My name is Brandon, BTW. You already know Scott, and then there's also Jeff (older guy), and we have a new part-time guy (Justin) starting as well.
