Need a new amp

I need a new amp guys, and I don't know what I should be looking for.

I will be powering two 10" sony xplods that are 330rms each. I figure if I give them about 400 each they'll sound great.

I have been looking at 1ch amps that are 2ohm stable and pump out around 700-800 rms at 2ohm's. I will wire the subs parallel to the amp to achieve 2ohms and give them both about 350-400w each inside a custom box.

What brands should I be looking for?

thanks alot.

You need a budget to determine what amps are suitable for you.

I'm don't go to sound competitions. I just want to power the sony's to sound good.

so 6-700 rms at 2 ohms would be good. cheap as possible while still sounding ok.

I was lookin at this one on E-bay... 500w x2 at 2ohms. that would be 500w to each sub max output right? tone it down a tad..

I want a cheap setup, im looking for ok sound. nothing to brag about.

Most likely I am looking for a discount brand of amp that will deliver, not necessarily the best, but deliver. you know?

I have a cheap 340 Jensen and it pounds my two crappy no name 10" subs..

I guess what I am trying to say, is that I don't have the money to go perfect setup now... but i want something that will get the job done.. gettin it done dirty if I have too.

I don't fully understand why it is worse though. If it has 2ohm capability, I don't see what you mean.

500W x 2 Output @ 2 Ohms
1000W x 1 Bridged Output @ 4 Ohms

My current amp only supports 340w @ 4 Ohms. Also it is not 2 Ohm stable. I hooked my subs up parallel to my sub and bridged it.. I noticed it was audibly louder. I was advised to recant my actions, as my amp was found to be not 2 Ohm stable.

Can you please explain, will this other amp put out more power or not?

This amp is rated at 50w rms x 2 and is 2 ohm stereo stable only. It is no better and more than likely worse than what you have now. If you beleive that the power ratings these idiots put on their amps are legitimate, then you need to slow down and read more first. A mono amp is not a 2 channel amp unless it is bridged. 99% of 2 channel amplifiers will not run at 2 ohms mono, they will however do 2 ohms stereo. Most dedicated mono amps will do 2 ohm or even 1 ohm and they are a subwoofer specific type of amp generally.

You are looking in the gutter for amplifiers unfortunately and expect to find gutter results with ratings that are completely inflated and inaccurate.

Thank you for clarifying that for me man.

However where did you pull these numbers from?

I am looking for a 1ch sub that I will wire two 4 Ohm subs in parallel giving the amp a load of 2 Ohms. Is there no cheap dedicated mono sub? I see now that it is a stereo amp, crap.

Can you please tell me what I need to look for in an amp? A mono amp that will provide 700 rms at 2 Ohm?

600W RMS @ 2 Ohm MONO;

Again, shop in the bargain basement, expect bargain basement products and performance. While I understand your need to be "thrifty", I do not understand the need to throw away money and be unhappy again. You are better off saving your $. If you choose to beleive the ratings that the garbage manufacturers paint onto their amps and list as specs, so be it. I know that I don't and won't. If I have an amp that is rated at 400w rms and has a 50 amp fuse in it and theirs is rated at 800w and has the same size fuse, one of the two is lying their a$$ off, you tell me which one you would think it is.
