Hooooooooooo-eyyyyyy - listen to the noobs spoutin off here..
Chunk - you're an ok guy but two things: First, telling people to "shut up" and to "screw off" will get you a holiday. Nobody likes an ***.
Secondly - you should be the LAST guy dissing a pre-made box over your first WonderBox :
And Ex-Maxx, IIRC you posted a little project once that AMPLY showed a deep affection for staples so I found your post quite odd. Oh and FYI, that magic glue that is stronger than MDF is called carpenter's glue. What have you been using, UHU stick?
There are a few decent pre-made boxes out there. As mentioned, the biggest drawbacks are usually generic dimensions and generic volume. Sounds like he found a box builder to help him out though.

I guess 200 isn't too bad, but if I could find a site with a decent layout for one, then I can get buddy next door to build me one. He's a carpenter, but never built sub boxes before. he don't charge hardly anything. I was thinking about that design that was listed above. Any good?? Thanks!!

starterwiz, i want to make sure that i fully understand. if i have 300 watts going to a type r 12" woofer in a ported box, i would have to run at least 600 to a type r 12" woofer that is in a sealed box to achieve the same output? am i understanding correctly?

Yep....if you are talkin 'bout between 25-40Hz, where all the "good" stuff is....at least 600. That is if you build it to be flat.

pm me with the absolute max between your shock towers, and the max height ( that can get thru the trunk opening....might want to get a piece of cardboard ((maybe two))cut to the depth/height to be sure), and I'll send you a plan.
Maybe 50-60 in materials with glue and carpet, plus transportaion, labour, the plan (that's worth an hour), and the inevitable mistakes you're bound to make, and $200 is really the better deal....you can't buy knowledge and intuition!.
Your dealer is bound to want to make his sub sound better than his competioton, if he's any good... So he'll make sure it's "all" right.
