>>>Need You input<<<

Hey guys, First i would like to say Thank you For any Assistance you can provide.

I got a BMW e36 328is, i got a 140 alternator in it and a 2004 Lincoln Aviator Battery in it:) and its a dry cell battery i think.. and the stock speakers i have are:

2 5.25 inch Speakers
2 1 inch Tweeter (its easier to put in 3/4 ones though)
2 2.5 inch Speakers

Now i really want great SQ and i like good bass, My car comes with alot of sound deadning stock, but oviously they didnt put it on for sound purposes.

My Budget is 1500 for EVERYTHING, and when i mean everything, i mean, i gotta run all the wires in because im going to take off the stock amplifier.

I was reading about the "Big 3" And I Want to do it, but the only problem is that the battery is in the trunk.... So its going to be alot of work.

My primary choice was to put in;

Alpine CDA-XXXX

2 Alpine Type R 5.25inch powered by 4 x 100 RMS amp (2 chans for the 2.5s)

1 Alpine Type X 12" with a MRP-M1000

I dont know what to do with the 2.5 inch

Also i used to have 2 12" type Rs with a vpower amp, it was under powered, but it Banged!! (i know under powering it is bad!)

And this time i want to set it up right, so that it will last me atleast 5 to 10 years.

So guys I Would really love any input you guys can give me!!

I want good sound quality, and Deep bass!!! For under 1500!

Also I dont want it to take away alot of trunk space like my type r's did,

I know the type X require 2 cubic feet in a ported box, so what are my options guys!!!!

And i really do appreciate the HELP!!!!

Are you going to be playing CDs? Or just an iPod? Or both? Alpine makes a great deck for iPods and iPhones but I only ever read bad reviews on thier cd parts messing up all the time.

The Big 3 setup is only good if you alternator can handle it.

What do you mean by that?

Just curious.....

Don't forget to budget in for speaker wire, RCA's, Sub Box, Power wire, in line fusing, mounting hardware, and a litany of little budget killers. You have pretty high taste for your budget, have you priced everything out?

I would express caution with the purchase of the $$$ Type X subwoofer as it is very box sensitive, I have heard it sound like the best sub made on one song and on the next sound like dog poop.

I was thinking of making my own amp wiring kit, so i think i should save some money that way, also im going to soulder all the wires.

I dont understand what you meant by the big three only good if my alternator is? can you explain more?

Also i found a type x 12 inch on ebay for only $330 roughly

I also found Type x Component for roughly $210 and it comes with tweeters.

What do you think is a good product, i really dont know anything about audio...

And im trying to learn what ever i can,

And i just want a system that costs about 1500, and that wont break on me.
I want it to last like 10 years! and i know its not good to underpower them or over power them, so im just looking at what would help to reach my goal.

You can underpower a speaker all day long, it is too much power that you need to worry about. If you are interested in a deal on products bought in Canada from a reliable dealer, I will work something up for you. There is no point in going into this big system if the little alternator that should, can't. Work within the realm of what you have available. If it means that you must build the system up over time, attack it that way. Two basic subs for example can easily get loud and sound good doing so. It is all about the careful match of components in this case that will make your system work effectively.

Do the "big three" for sure always good
If you want it under 1500 then maybie you can buy the good hu a very nice component set for front, 4 channel amp. and a decent efficient type sub..if you can afford the trunk space. the you will have all good stuff and can upgrade later if u want
just run comps off 2 channels of amp, bridge other two for sub.. if you need rear speakers can be run off deck power. if you need later get big amp and anouther sub to add later? then you free up 2 more channels from 4 ch amp to use for rear or to bi amp or waterver however you want to upgrade .
dont know your car that well what are the two inchers ? in front? you looking to run ther factory speakers or sometheng?

just a side note:

crutchfield has the polk audio mm line on sale, good speakers at a reasonable price.

That is a very good idea!! Also the 2inchers are on the door, along with the tweeter, and the 5.25 is in kicker panel (the panel next to the drivers foot)

So what do you think is a good choice? Also i would like to have a good sub. something equivilent to a Type X. Are there any subs that are = to the Type X but requires less space?

But i guess for now i could just buy a good head unit, 2 5.25" and 2 2inchers. Do you know what i should go with and what amp i should use for it? I really dont even know what a good car set-up should sound like.
