It looks to me like this driver is simply the Brahma V.1 kept in production, now marketed as a home driver.
Don't know why, but all signs point to that...
Of course, my guess here is just speculation, but I don't see enough different about it to draw any other conclusion...
Voice coil windings wired to a single 4 ohm set of leads, rather than two 2 ohm sets of leads.
You might even pull that dustcap up to find out it's exactly the same windings as the Brahma has always had, literally wired in series under the cap.
I know the buildhouse that they use for their XBL2 subs only is tooled up to build a very discreet few instances of XBL2 motors, making this highly likely to literally be the exact V1 Brahma.
It looks like it has slightly more mass, or maybe simply a different spider, because the Fs is a couple Hz lower than the V1 Brahma, the rest of the specs look remarkably similar, certainly within tolerances of the older Brahma motor (they wouldn't publish exactly the same numbers, after all, right? )
Maybe it is a different set of windings, on an otherwise-identical V1 Brahma though...
The lower power handling, the lower motor strength might indicate fewer windings on the former, and therefore fewer windings in the gap.
I'm not sure why they'd want to keep the V1 version of the Brahma in production, when the V2 version is simply some slight improvements over the V1...
I'd think they'd just use the V2 Brahma, wired in series, for the Sadahara home subwoofer.
The Sadahara is slightly more advantagous in a sealed enclosure, I'd venture (although the Sadahara isn't a sealed home theater sub!), and has a slightly lower Fs, but not too major...
Doesn't look to be a real serious cost savings (there certainly wouldn't be, in comparing cost to Adire to build it, to maintain two somewhat discrete platforms like that).
Oh well, why try to understand...
Both are obviously some superior drivers.
If you haven't experienced (or better yet, had the opportunity to compare a non XBL2 sub to) an XBL2 sub driver, it's fun to play with.. see what it can do, not just in output capability, but in realism. Fun to see how clean it stays, as you turn your Xover up higher, and higher...
