New amp suggesstion
Last week my 2 Pioneer 12's took a on me so I bought 2 Rockford P1 12's 3 days ago. Now I've got 2 07 Eclipse SW8200's on the way and I'm definetly switching out the P1's. I've got a Kenwood 300W @ 4ohm/550W @ 2ohm amp now. Should I use 1 or 2 amp(s)? Should I go with a 2-channel amp? The SW's are each 4 ohm, how should I wire them? They will be going into an approx. 1-1.25 cuft (each) sealed chambers. I'm looking to spend $400. Any suggestions will be helpful.

SW8200's need some serious power dude. You need a big mono amp that is stable to 2 ohms. $400 unfortunately is not going to cut it as far as a good amp that can provide the kind of power that those subs demand to make them perform.

Thanks for the replies. The SW's have an 81dB 1/watt efficiency, so I know they'll need all the 670 watts they're reccommended for, so I'm looking for a 1200-1400W @ 2 ohm amp. I honestly don't know who makes good amps, but I've heard good things from US, JL, Kicker, Alpine, Zapco, etc. I know I could turn the gain down, but would 1500W be pushing them? I think my Kenwood is overheating because it does 300W @ 4ohm and I've been using it @ 2ohm and it makes 550W. Does this put more stress on the amp?

Thanks MR2NR, but it's out of my price range. I've dealt with Ebay once or twice and always pay with MO. I've read a lot of problems about Paypal & Ebay scamming people, but I doubt it'll happen. So I should be looking for a mono @ what ohm amp? I just read that an amp wouldn't run as hot if it was wired into 4 ohm even if it was 2 ohm stable .. ? (sw's are 4 btw), and I think my Kenwood was shutting off because it's 300@4/550@2 and it was wired into 2. There's a lot of low prices for 1500W amps on Ebay, brands are: technical pro, almani, fosgate punch, pyramid, phoenix gold, all for around $200+__....and a kicker zx1500 or mtx TA81001 for 389+__. Would a good 1000W amp be enough to power SW's? JL 1000/1?

and I've also been looking @ the 1500@ 2-channel amp on theloudest.com.uk from the reviews it sounds great for only $250 CAD.

so you already have a 300 watt amp
and they pyle your looking at is 450
not going to make much diffenerence at all
is this the amp at toloud

if it is with that big 15 amp fuse its going to do less power than what you have

Dont forget those are max power outputs, not rms.
