I am a fellow audiophile, and recently I was looking online for prices for a set of Focal 165K2P or 165K3P, and I was shocked to find that there are no websites that are Canadian based that offer mid to high end brand names and products. You are required to go through the US, or Ebay (mostly located in the US). I was curious on some feedback on whether or not starting my own online car audio website would be feasible. Bear in mind it will deal in Canadian currency, and be as competitive as American prices for items. Would this stand a chance against the local brick and mortar car audio stores which are overpriced in my opinion. Would you rather the convenience of the installer selling you the item or going online to buy a part at a cheaper price with the downside of a wait? Your comments would be greatly appreciated, positive or negative.

Thanks

The brick and mortar vs. online debate has been discussed on this board many times, might want to do a search for threads on this.....

this is a touchy subject as many of us are industry members. i realy don't think that any one out there is gouging either; seeing as how there is almost No margine left on any of the slutted out product that is on the market todate! most of us are just tring to make a living and for the most part do it just cause we enjoy the industry. trust me we are all aware of better ways to make money. but to answer your question.lol. i think that u might be able to find a piece of pie in there as many others have! best to ya and welcome to the site. There have been a few canadian online sales sites, but I only know of onw that is still running. and the mid to high end products have very strict policies as a general rule, that prohibit online sales from any authorized distributor, which means that there would be no warranty on any products sold online.

Welcome to the board!! there's lots of us from the KW area it's good to have annother local person here.

Might want to research those Focals a little closer as well. There is a thread here on this site that pertains to those exact speakers you were looking for in the exact same place. My customer bought a pair of them, they turned out to be counterfeit. Any distributor with any degree of integrity will sell to their authorized dealers only. Why on earth would they bite the hand that feeds them?
