New to forums, And need a new stereo
Hey guys hows it goin.
Well lucky me i just had my truck broke into, so its time to build a whole new system.
So the vehical im working with is a 1998 chev s10 extended cab. what i had in the truck was a TEAM RF ROCKFORD FOSGATE TRF2212 powered by a ROCKFORD FOSGATE T20001BD. and had TSUNAMI PP1010DM-CAP 10 FARAD. which was all stolen.
with this i still have 0 guage running from my battery to back seat. and i have the high output alternator.
What im looking for now is just some opinions on what you guys would feel would be a good system for me to get back into, I am mainly gearing towards SPL. What would be some high spl subs in an average price range i would be liking to spend around 2 -3 grand tops, obviously not paying normal retail prices, my previous stereo i bought entirely off of ebay.

I got my M80 from Soundsgoodauto.com...ask for Mike. It does 800W at 1ohm. I'm fully expecting the cone of my 10" to be flying through the back windshield shortly.

Rock on. Your choices are almost endless. good power, good power supply(which you allready have) and the box are the most important parts. For anything other than full SPL setup doing a ported enclosure in a pickup is tough to get right since you have a limited distance for the sound waves to form.
Going by what you had previously you have to at the very least 1 up yourself. I'd go with 4 monster 10's in a sealed box. with a good 2000+Wrms of clean power. I say sealed because of the size of the cab itself and the space available fo the enclosure. Ported in trucks works great for 1 note wonder systems. Unfortuntely the cab is too short to ever aprpeciate those low notes while your in the truck.
Depending what brands your partial to and your budget. I would point you to a pair of Alpine PDX 1000.1's and 4 Alpine TypeX 10" subs. I say 10's ecause it's hard to wire 3 12's and get full advantage o your amps, and 4 12's you'd be choking up the subs for airspace so it might work against you.

wow those 4 10"s would be sexy i havent heard many alpines how would those four pound if i used this to power them you think, i have been debating a few ways and honestly didnt think of 4 10's ill link what i was jumping between DD's

4000wrms sounds like a great thing. But the reality of it is that you can achieve more gains with proper sound insulation and if you do that...tha much power with spakers that can handle will actually cause you physical pain sitting in the vehicle. For competitions it's great. for daily use. really 2000Wrms is more power than is needed for anything. running that kind of power playing music anyways you'll need an amp with a subsonic filter and set it pretty high.
if it's a street truck and not a competition truck. there's not much advantage in going too crazy. you don't want to feel your kidneys and ********* compressing. You'd ge more energy out of the 4 10's then you would 2 12's. and as I said before, given that it's in a truck wit a pretty small cab.. reproducing those notes isn't really possible. So you'll be losing out a little on the added low end the 12s would provide.
In theory 15's would eb awesome, but you'd be producing tons of pressure and sound that you will not get to experience inside the cab of your truck.
I'm a very strong believer in getting the best out of what you have to work with.
