New guy needs some help

I am looking for a reputable shop in the GTA that can build me an enclosure for my RE SX12. I am new to this and know I would end up doing a half ass job if I tried making it myself. I am happy with my setup so far and can't wait to get my sub in:) I have an 08 Civic coupe if that helps anything. Thanks alot and for putting up with my noobness.

Link to that subwoofer. <<< Click.

According to the site, the optimum enclosure is 2ft^3, tuned to 33HZ. Which is exactly what I'm trying to make for the Eclipse 12" sub that's being shipped to me right now...

I'd look for someone on this site that can do it. You'll pay a little less, and probably end up with quality equal to what the shop can produce. There are a few guys that look like they know what they're doing.

Here's a link to my question on the same topic. http://www.canadiancaraudio.com/online/install-related/137281-34-hz-box-design-assistance-please.html#post435019
Maybe that's something that'll work for you too.

Thanks, Is there anyone in particular on this site I could ask to get a box built? The only thing with the SX12 is that it displaces more space than that sub you have.

displaces more space than that sub you have.
You're absolutely right. Never dawned on me at the time. That'll be something to compensate for.

Jalat might. JoeF - but he's not a very frequent user of the forum. Just hi-jack a thread, or start yourself another one asking someone if they'd build you one. Most might suggest a slot ported box, instead of the square mess I've designed. Since it accomplished the same thing, and is easier to build.

The only reason I elected to go with the square port was since I read its the next best thing after a round port.

If you end up looking for a shop in the GTA, check out Ultra Auto Sounds. Dundas 427 area. I've personally delat with them and sent numerous others there. Ask for Said (pronounced Si-eed) he own the place. Great guy, won't BS you. They've been around for 15+ years.

I would get in contact with Selective Sound, they do good work. I will porbly be getting them to build me a box since they are like 5 mins from me and have done all the work to my car thus far.

Josh222 02-05-2009 01:29 AM

Josh222 02-05-2009 12:37 PM

I ordered one of Trevor's Kerf flare boxes, ordered about 2 weeks ago so he should hopefully start building it soon.

I hope it is worth the money, because being in the GTA you had a lot of options for someone to build you a box. I also hope that the $300 includes the $90 shipping.

the box is designed by a computer and then tweaked (atleast I would hope so) by a man. so a box like that isnt just thrown together, which is where the high price tag comes from.

Denonite 03-28-2009 02:59 PM

Yeah...thanks for the explanation...still 400 bucks for a box!

Josh222 03-28-2009 03:16 PM

It was only $210 + $90 shipping.

Denonite 03-29-2009 09:07 AM

Oh!!...well in that case...it's a good deal!
