I hear ya! I had this one kid in here for a trial day. He was very cocky in his interview, he said things like "you want me"(working here). So we brought him in for a trial day. I would give him a task, he do it. Then right when he was done he would sit down and whip out his cellphone. Like seriously, i had to hold his hand all day. He wasnt asked to come back... Then got rude on the phone, when we didnt call him... What a tool

Stupid people should have to wear signs!

Hey Randy, What is it with your bay and all the idiots that youve been paired up with, exception going out to Paul, i almost figure with all the waranty jobs and repair bills you could afford to pay Paul enought to quit his full time job and come work for you. LOL. Just a thought!!!

As far as I know, Claudio has full access to this board. He more or less stopped posting when Tim got himself booted off.

AWWWWWWwwwwwwww

You guys DO miss me

Lets see, some scary Installer stories huh?

Gather around the Camp Fire (or Monitor glow)

We had a rookie install an alarm in a Jeep YJ, all was going good "until" the installer came to installing the dreaded hood pin!! I had shown him where to drill the hole and how to run the wire, alas I was dealing with an EXPERT here.
Trying to shown me that he "fully" understood positive and negative triggers. For you see, when he opened the hood he noticed the light under the hood that turned on when the hood was opened. Quick thinking he "tagged" the SINGLE wire going into the light socket and then tagged to the door trigger for the alarm........

Sooooooooo, everything "seemed" to be working fine, first test the doors, yup they work and the alarm goes off. Second test the hood pin........hmmmmm nothing happened, oh well lets open the door to double check that it was wired up right................WTF, why is all the smoke coming from the open hood???????????? OMG start blowing on the wire for the hood light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! , it is not working......HELP HELP HELP........ we all came running in and I ran up to the Jeep with a pair of bolt cutters and SNIPED the Ground Strap......................................

Can anyone tell me what went wrong???????

hoods a pos. trigger......and I missed you......an your ball punches.

When it comes to rookies Ive had more than my share of headaches, thrills, and suprises.
This one rookie installed a 4 channel amp in the rear of an old datsun (thats nissan for you kids). He did a nice job on the wiring but when he screwed the 3527s in to the side panel, he didnt realise that three inch drywall screws were were two inches too long!
The funny thing was he didnt notice four screws sticking out of the car two inches.
I went to lock the garage door after the shop closed and nearly ripped my pants off on these 4 screws sticking out of the side of this car. The installer had gone home didnt see the screws!

We had a guy that did that with an overhead drop screen.

Funny thing was it was a Chevy with 9" of lift and 40" tires. Nobody knew until 4 months later when the client came back for more work (the said installer was already fired a couple months prior for other constant ****ups). I was quite a ways back from the truck when I noticed something weird about the roof line and I climbed up into the box and saw 4 screw tips protruding out of the roof about 1-1.5".

The client was pretty cool about the "hole" thing <pun intended> when I told him (he had a huge laugh about it actually) and when I had my paint/body guy fix it for him he was astonished. He couldn't believe I was going to get it fixed for him. Thats the part that floored me that he actually didn't expect for it to get fixed. Hell I was more embarrassed about the situation than anything.

We had another "hero" working at this bay a few months ago. Because we work on partial comission, he would rush jobs and mess everything up. When they called with complaints he would book the cars in on his day off. I was loosing 8 hours a week fixing car I didnt get paid to do.
He did a side job and f8cked the car up. The MX6 had a fire in a harness at the rite-side of the passenger seat. The store paid for the repairs. My gereral manager and me got into a huge fight because of it. I told him he was nuts. The "hero' had his nose so far up my G.Ms *** that the end result was my boss hating me. Luckly for me niether one is with the company anymore
