I do believe there was someone on here quite a while back who said he remvove the e brake pedal assembly from a dakota(it should just unbolt from under the dash)
then they used a trunk open soleniod to pull the cable when they needed it .......totaly reversable
for all that goes you could locate another ebrake pedal assembly and mod it, saving the original
BTW nice ride ... I'm into B bodies myself

Nice ride.
What are you objectives? Do you just want a good sounding stereo? If so then I would put good 3.5" speakers in the stock spots, possibly consider something for midbass under the dash, and a woofer in the back.
If you decide you want what kickpanels have to offer, it wouldn't be that hard to put a 4+tw KP in there and keep the e-brake. Still may need a midbass then though.
Alternately, assuming you need and use an e-brake, there are options there too should you feel you need large drivers in the kickpanel area.
First though - it is best to find out what you expect out of the system..

Then I would add a good set of 3.5" 2way speakers to the dash and drop a sub in the back. It's a good start and you can add other speakers later if you think you need it.
I would suggest buying a small 30x2 to 50x2 amp for the front speakers too. It makes a world of difference.
