Hello all,
First, off, i just wanted to say that this is an awesome forum! i've been reading here for the past day (continuously almost!) and just registered and wanted to say hi....
I have a question to ask - i have a 05 Ford explorer Sport Trac. It's very restrictive in what you can do with it. I have already swapped out the head unit to a clarion MAX675VD and the factory speakers to Clarion SRC6816 6x8's. Not the best, but it was the first time i installed speakers...I was told later that the reason they don't sound as loud as they can is because they are not amplified...
I am also in the process of trying to build a sub box for 2 10" subs for behind the seats, and this is where i'd like some help. What would be a good 10" shallow mount sub? i'm OK with spending money on getting great quality, but i am not looking to go deaf or entering any competitions either.
in addition to that, i'd like to get an amp that can power the 2 subs and the 4 6x8's...is this possible? sorry for sounding like such a noob, but i've read alot on this forum, and if someone has suggestions, i'd really appreciate it!
thanks in advance!

earthquake makes pretty good shallow mount subs, as for the amp. your better off getting 2 one for the subs and another for the 6x9's

Thanks for the reply Jo. Is there a retailer in Edmonton? Or will i have to order the SWS ones in? Also, what are the thoughts about the Exile XT10's?
thanks!

I havnt heard the Exile's only the SWS and the SWS are pretty impressive for shallow mounts.

All depends what you're looking for honestly... 1. Does it have to be new? Considering it's your first system, you may want to go used until you know for sure what your ears like... Let me know, I have a bunch of stuff I was considering selling that is all top line 2. Budget? You can spend a TON or not...

Off hand, I'd stay away from the monster retailers like best buy, future shop etc etc... if you're looking to go new, I dealt with Certified a hundred times in the past all with good results in Edmonton. I've also used Audio Obsessions in Sherwood Park for install. They seemed willing to negotiate. There is also a retailer in Sherwood Park on the east side that frequents the board here... no disrespect intended... i've just never dealt with him personally...

Why 2 - 10's??? Try a well powered single 12 to start... it'll take up way less roon as well!!!

Thanks tonez...what kind of stuff do you have, and what kind of prices?!!? send me a pm or re-direct me if you have stuff in the buy/sell section...(does this forum have one?)
I have used Certified all the time - it's the only place i do go actually, i just wait for thier VIP sale. the only thing i've bought in the past are expensive headunits, never did speakers, and never subs, that's why i'm lost on that front.
As for the 12", i just won't have room in the back on the sport trac. the area behind the seats is very limited...
