New RX8
Woohoo, you can easily put a shallow mount 8" in the door, it has about 3.5" of depth in the door until the magnet would hit the window, with spacing, definitely more, the mounting cutout is about 8 1/4" inches. This car is going to be nice but possible pain in the a$$, now if I can only talk him into new speakers instead of the old Lightning Strike 5.25" components. I'll take same digital pics as I go and when I have the time, I'll post them up. He has a whole pile of old gear and some new necessary Audio Control equipment to go in. Too bad he won't spring for a full tilt install and glass job though.

Getting the sub enclosure into the rear area involves removal of the rear seats, parcel shelf, center console, rear bezel, rear braces and then you can get a box into the trunk from inside the car (of a given size of course - no more than 13" tall x 30" wide). If one were to build a slimline box of little usefull volume for most subs, it of course would drop right in from the back, as would a two part box. Well at least he's going to be paying the install bill for this predicament. The radio gets tackled tomorrow, should be pretty easy as I'm going to leave it as is and intigrate the Audio Control gear into it. What did you tackle on this car Ryan?
I did a system for the manager of one of our stores. We keep the factory deck and ran a Kicker KX550.3 off it. In the front we did the MB Quart PSD216. Factory rears remained. A single Kicker CompVR10 glassed in the dip on the floor to the rear of the truck with amp flushed in front of it. Covered it all in matching trunck liner. The trim piece took 3 pieces to construct it as the opening to the trunk was limited. I also did a starter alarm combo.
I have pics in my album at work. I will see if i can get them scaned as they were takin with a disposable camera.

In the dip in the rear is now home to a EQS and a 6XS, to either side will be a Rockford 551X and a 1001BD. For subs he has gone with two Lightning Audio Strike S3.12.4 subs in a 2 cu.ft. sealed enclosure. It looks like I'm going to remove the Bose amp from the rear parcel shelf and cut the plastic out above it and make a grill for the area to couple the subs output to the cabin, should work fine. His only downfall that I have found is his speakers, he has old school Lightning Audio 6.5" coax for the rear and 5.25" components for the front. But he wants to hear them first and then decide if he wants to upgrade, pretty sure he will, we just let him listen to a car full of MB Quart. Appreciate the heads up with the pics. I have a camera and have been taking pics as well, but I am not a computer person so I'll have to have someone show me how to get them onto a site like this. The problems of growing up before computers.
Ha ha, let's just say I did not sell him the LA gear, but he liked it in his old car. I think he's in for a surprise after listeniong to the no highs, no lows, just Bose 8" door speakers are replacing them with el cheapo 5.25" components. He liked the sound of the MB Quart but I'm also going to look into Diamond for him as well. Maybe that great Jensen stuff as well.
