I might be able to help you out. I am close by and usually in Btown every Saturday. I can get you all the bass you want in there for under the $1000 mark. Let me know if you want to meet up. I can make some good suggestions for you and you can hear my car with a single 12 on 650watts in a trunk and let me know if you need more.
I guess let me know next time you're in town and we can go from there? Thanks for the offer man! Hope to talk soon Cheers! PS: "420" guy, I'll bring the spliff ;) I've got more than enough! |

I've been to 4 shops in the area - hi-fi, EHR, gain, and goldstar. The best, and only one I'll go to again is East Hamilton Radio (easthamiltonradio.on.ca). They'll most likely try to sell you some much worse subs in a much worse sealed box for more money, you can't blame them, they think they know what gear is good (they sell the mainstream stuff), I doubt they've heard of IA & AQ. They just have a lot more experienced installers, and do a good job. They might charge more for install as a result (it's the largest mobile audio store in Canada last time I checked), but you get what you pay for. The car audio & home-theatre departments are pretty rad, there's nothing like seeing/hearing some $10,000 subwoofer cabinets for 2 10's.
A solid recommendation from me would be something along the lines of a Hertz Audio EP1D, and a couple of their hi-energy 10"s with a nice box, or an Alpine PDX-M12 with a pair of type Rs. Simple solutions that wont break the bank and will sound great. |
You my friend, have just lost ANY respect from me and you also have no idea what retail business is about I'll let you in on a little secret. Retailers sell 80% more mainstream vs "underground" brands. Not to mention any good retailer will take GREAT care of you when it comes to warranty work and making sure stuff works. Not to mention the mainstream stuff usually is the most reliable. Pricewise most stuff has shaped up in Canada to be competitive. A lot of the stuff on SSA is pretty much a direct comparison to the mainstream stuff for almost identical money. You tell me I'm wrong but then say the same that I said? :appl: |
i'm fresh to this site so i'm not sure how all this works, but, you're looking to buy an amp-box-subs set-up?? i have a pretty good one for sale

Any of this sound any good? This is what a local car audio place e-mailed me when I asked for some quotes
Package 1 Kenwood Excelon, 2 year warranty -2 x 12" subs model kfc-xw1222d. (600rms each) -Kenwood Excelon amp, model x1200m (1200rms) -3/4" wood mdf box, sealed or vented $850 Package 2, Kicker -2 x 12" kicker comp vr model 10cvr12 (400rms each) -kicker amp zx750.1 -3/4" wood mdf box, sealed or vented $900 package 3 Rockford fosgate -2 12" subs, p3, 500rms each -Rocford amp p1000.1 -3/4" wood mdf box, sealed or vented $1200 Note: for these packages u should add a capacitor, it puts less starin on the alternator -1 fard digital cap $99 -Labour $70 -amp kit 4 gauge. $90 I went to school with this guy so I can definitely bargain with him if needed or tell him what I'm looking for instead. Thoughts? Thanks guys |
all the packages are nice, #3 is really nice though but they're all pricey.
what exactly are you looking for, you're car to be a vibrator or just some nice bass? and from all the guys i've spoke to say that a 1farad cap is useless, the drain is too fast for what it holds, they say 3 and up. i've got a 6fd that goes down to 9v on long notes. let me know cause i have some great used stuff for sale including a pair of new RE SR10's |
