I agree. They were fantastic when I used them in Jan. Very reasonable as well.

Does everyone realize that they are pushing out the local retailer by buying on-line???? Don't you want someone to talk to when something goes wrong??? Don't bitch and complain when the local guys are no longer in business because you wanted to save a few dollars...I feel it is safe to say that most local retailers will blow you away when it comes to showing off there gear, and they want you guys to have the same experience...

unfortunately that has not been my experience with dozens of shops over the last 20-25 years. Most just push their own brands, be-little other brands, try to convince you to go a certain direction when you want something else (in terms of design or set up), which may be good for some less experienced audio guys, but really irritating to veterans that know what they want. On top of that their prices are almost always significantly higher than big box stores and definitely higher than online (2-3x the price is not reasonable...1.5x is if you need advice or want to build a relationship with them and support your local shop). Lastly, they rarely have the brands that I want or have to order it in at full retail prices...hardly worth my while. Unfortunately, if they were as good as you say (some may be..ultra autosound in mississauga, and auto sound design that used to be at bathurst and steeles were pretty good and I've heard great things about selective in mississauga) people would support them, but like everything else price dictates who will win in the end. Anyway just my 2 cents from my experiences.

The truth is that most things are manufactured in China, and in my opinion is just made to make noise. We have sold out. You say your a veteran, so you will agree that the stuff we buy on-line or at the local retailer is crap compared to the old school stuff. Eg. We took a Rockford Punch 100 (15 years ago) and bridged to a .25 ohm load and ran that thing for over 1/2 hour and guess what did it again the next day with the same amp...unbeatable, amazing equipment....Now your lucky to get 1/2 hour run with anything at 1 ohm.... Veterans think they know what they want, but the truth is Alpine is not the same Alpine as old, and Rockford is not the same as old. Performance magazines tell you what the manufactures can afford and if you want quality your not going to see and feel it on-line, Sorry but that is the honest to stereo world truth...

Well maybe if local guys started carrying more variety and become reasonable in their prices then maybe we wont have a reason to patronize online stores. They need to get with the program.

For example, I got a 1/0 gauge amp kit for 70 bucks shipped from the states. I went to a local guy today and he wanted 169 for a 1/0 kit. Our money is higher so they should adjust prices to reflect this, I know they have to get rid of their current stock before then can adjust the prices.

Sorry bro, have to totally disagree with you. I can remember those old days with lots of faulty equipment. In fact I'll bet there were more break downs per thousand units then compared to now. I ran a relatively cheap, chinese made, 1 ohm hifonics amp for 5 years daily at well over 3 hours a day through blazing hot summers and cold winters with no issue at all...and it's still working perfectly in my friends car. All my newer Fosgate amps have worked flawlessly for years...I currently have a 6 year old power 1000 5channel that's running subs at 1ohm with no issues to date, and the previous RF 4 channel had no problems either, nor did the Sony I had for 3 years. In fact I've not had an electronic component fail on me in over 18 years. The only ones that ever did was a Linear power 5002 from 1989, an Orion 280gx from 88, and 2 sony decks 1987 and 1992...yep all old school. As far loading amps down, why would I want to load an amp down to 1/2 ohm when I don't have to. Power is cheap these days, the need for amps that you could run 40 speakers off of or drop to 1/4 ohm to get into a 0-100 watt @ 4ohms class in a competition are long gone. Run your equipment properly and you won't have any problems.
Next: what's you point? If I buy the same equipment online or at your local store won't change the reliability of the equipment. You say all the equipment is junk now, so why should it make a difference where I buy it? So, essentially, you're saying that I should shop locally for crap equipment and pay more for it...really????
