Alright all you late model Cavy and Sunfire owners...

I have to build a box for one and I don't have one at my disposal to measure. Can someone please offer up max width and height measurements please? That or a pic of what fit in your car would be cool with measurements.

I am thinking I have to hit about 2cuft.

I will get back to ya in about hour times if someone hasn't , I had mine measured at one time but can't recall the exact... Height was about 14-15" max because of the trunk springs and width was 40-45" but will get ya 100% specs later on!

When I built Sean's subbox for his RE HC15, 3.5Cuft was pushing it, but I forget the measurements. 2Cuft should be ok anyway you build it.

17" high x 31" wide

Cavy's have a more square trunk so you may be able to put it in through the trunk opening.
Sunfire's have the tail lights in the way so you have to go in through the backseat. To get a box 17"x31" you will have to trim the light steel edges.
Otherwise max dimensions are 16"x29", 17"x28", 15"x30".
Any higher than 17" and you have to get rid of the trunk springs.

Thanks Sean, lol, that thing was a pretty tight fit eh? :D

Couldn't have been quite as bad as Rockney's box though ;)

There ya go, got the info u needed....But I thought 17" was pushing it before the Trunk springs?

The width between the tirewells is wider than 31" in a 3rd Gen Cav. I think it is right around 38." I was able to cram (literally) a JL HO 12W7 box (17.00"H x 34.00"W x 20.50"D) into the trunk, but it just barely fit. I had to remove the rear seat back and put it into the trunk sideways through the cabin and then rotate the box to its proper position while gently prying one of the hinge brackets about a quarter inch to the side to allow the corner of the box to pass. It was even more fun getting it out ;) lol

OK maybe I should rewrite this then;
17" is the highest you can go before the springs come into play. They bow up in the middle leaving a bit more room but one has a notch in it and when the trunk is down the notch will take that extra space away. 17"=no problems

If are feel like crushing the living crap out of the factory carpeting (and leaving some nice marks behind when it comes out) then you may be able to squeeze another couple of inches out of the width. Of course if you want the enclosure to be any highr than 15" you will have to cut some major re-enforcement steel and take out the trunk hinge brackets. Unless you want the enclosure to sit at the back of the trunk and even then gettin git in is going to be a pain. None of which I'm sure he wants to do to a customers car for a 2cu.ft. enclosure.

Hope the measurements help you out Paul.

Max safe box measurements are 15x15x35

Good luck.

That was what fit mine good for 2-15", no prying, twisting, or fighting, to get it in.
