Ok..Let's try this again...
Ok, not trying to be a nuisance, but i really need help with my midrange decision, as i only want to buy this once, and never have to revisit it again... I was wondering how many of you guys on here run setups (active/passive), using DIY speakers/ kits etc. Late last year i bought 4 B&C 8 NDL51s. They performed very for the frequency range i wanted them too (150 Hz to 850 Hz). Loud and clear. I tired to find something that would keep up with them to cover a range from 900Hz - 6Khz thereabout, but found nothing so hence got turned off of the whole idea and just decided to go with a bunch of comps.
Recently, the Audax PR170M0 were recommended to me, so I'm giving them thought. However, I would like if u guys can recommend any other drivers (6" - 8") i can look into that would be loud and clear, and still keep with the midbass and lower mid frequecies that the B&C produces. Also, stores, etc where I can audition them would be a great help too.... Thanx in advance

Well in terms of DIY drivers, I looked at Seas, Peerless, Scan Speak, basically all off the Tymphany website. Having no way of acutally auditioning them, i had to go off reviews, and most reviews i get say these mids are clean and clear, very SQ oriented but won't get extremely loud and won't match up with the B&C.......P.S. I sold a pair of the B&C so I will only be running 1 per door....
This probably isn't the best place to ask about DIY stuff.
As for the mids, if you want a small midrange, for 900Hz - 6Khz I'd say try Dayton RS52.
That Audax looks interesting. High sens
.
I'm a bit confused, are you going for a 2 or 3-way front? IE are you keeping th B&C for midbass duty?

Why 6"-8"? A 3"-4" would be better for a dedicated midrange. I would X the B&C's @80 to ~150, then use a 4" mid up to to ~4k. Maybe the Vifa TG9's? They'll play down to 100Hz in a 2-5L enclosure and up to 16kHz if need be. They're like $35ea at Solen.

For me it would probably be fine, I like it loud too, but loud to me may not be loud to you. Someone mentioned the Dayton dome mid, its sensitivity is rated a 91dB i believe. That might be a better choice. BTW B&C rates that speaker @96dB but the from tests I have seen its more like 91dB.
Have checked out Zaph|Audio tests?
What are your thoughts on horns?
It's going to be tough to match the efficiency of the B&C's. The Audax drivers would do quite well and would be a good choice.
Pretty much anything else you use you're going to have to pad down, which isn't a big deal. If that's the case, depending on what you're using up high, I like the Seas Excel E0044 as well as the Peerless Exclusives.
