I got that issue In fact I was kinda pissed when I saw it cuz I thought I would be orignal and go with an old skool equipment install in todays world The guy who bought the car off that guy in the article recently had it for sale on the Carsound forums. He was parting the equipment out too. He was wanting $125 for the 7618 and changer. I shoulda grabbed it

Man, I haven't seen a 12W5 in years, when were they first produced?
I remember that crossover too....I saw one about 8 years ago, probably when I first got into the whole car audio thing, I think it was on a display board at a shop I was at with my dad, I haven't seen one since.

Here is one of my old favorites, IASCA world champ back in 94 and 95. The amount of work that went into the car was incredible. The wheelwells were cut out to make 1 cuft. midbass enclosures, the entire real wheelwells were removed to make room for the dual 15's, and horns were mounted IN the dash firing up at the windshield, and so much more.
Total stealth...I love it...

^ Jim Adam's Firebird. I remember it well although I don't remember all the MTX stuff or 15s. I remember it as having a pair of 12s aperiodically-damped, similar to the pic shown but didn't require wheelwells being removed. It did require the gas tank being changed though I think. And the horns were under the dash as shown, unless he changed that later too. In the rear well was Orion HCCA amps I believe as he was in the 0-150 watt class. Might be wrong about the amps though but it definitely was different than shown, in the CA&E article way back when.

Great topic! Nice to see some of those old school brands being represented. For some reason Linear power amps of that era were on my mind today. I'm an avid collector of all older Rockford Fosgate amplifiers (Rockford Fosgate Punch 150 1989-1992 being the greatest amplifier in the history of car audio in my opinion) and if i recall correctly, it was manufactureres such as Fosgate, Orion, Linear Power, Precision Power, Alpine that we owe everything to . (I apologize if I left a brand or two out notabl;y Soundstream and Phoenix Gold along with Kicker and MTX)
